7Gallon rubbermaid tubs can be found at walmart and kmart and likely a number of other places. That's what the rest of us are using. You'll save a lot of time buying one with a dark colored lid that you can easily make holes out of and it should be lighter weight too. I wouldn't spend the time making one out of fiber glass..

I don't believe the bottle instructions match verbatim, but botanicare pure blend pro (PBP) line has been working very well for me. Once the plants were ready for some light juice:

Distilled water (Or R/O Reverse Osmosis) [Below is per gallon solutions]

Veg Recipe-
You should achieve the following:
116N - 30P - 155K - 77Ca - 33Mg
PBP Bloom:................12ml
Cal Mag Plus:..............5ml
Liquid Karma:.............. 3ml

For veg I would only use this recipe for about 2 weeks at most. Once they get to be mid-sized you can increase the N some. I have now reverted back to the Botanicare instructions (which really aren't bad).

I calculated this to be:
203N - 26P - 230K - 109Ca - 50Mg
PBP Grow:.................25ml
Cal Mag Plus:..............5ml
Liquid Karma:.............10ml

I haven't tried their mild solution for the first week or two (clones/seedlings) like shown on this pic of their recipe:

I plugged it into the calculator and got:
60n - 13p - 70k - 20Ca - 10Mg

Seams like it would work to me. Just a little short on Ca and Mg so make sure to use a bit of that Cal Mag plus. Hope it helps - and good luck.

The plastic ducting is what I have on my reflector and it does fine. But I'm rockin a 175cfm vortex fan. Lot more air movement. It really could melt with this kind of light power so be careful.

Plastic ducting is holding up fine, Arctic Cooling PC fans doing their job, I guess. Thanks for the advice, DP, but this is my problem:
where I live there are no Walmarts, Kmarts, any kind of -marts, realy, and if I ask for hydro supplies at any of gardening or agricultural stores here, I would just get a strange look from the shopkeeper.
For the reasons mentioned above, I simply have to figure a way to mix my own solution or forget about hydro and grow in soil.

You can't purchase products online? They only sell them everywhere on the planet. Nothing illegal about buying them online my friend. Keep that in mind and good luck with what you decide to do.

Finally found a decent tub- 24 l=cca 6 gallons.
Also, got my temps in order - 28 C at canopy level. Wonder if thicker glass on the hood would help even some more?

Regarding those nutes, do liquid fertilizers that are used for soil work for hydro?
I just don't like ordering my stuff over the net, takes too long and postage usually kills me. Anyway, they sell liquid guano here it's 7/3/5, probably needs micronutes added to it.

I couldn't tell you on the nutes - just look at the specs on the paper and it will say. I suggest you go with Pure Blen Pro series nutes. You can simply follow the instructions for the recipe that I posted above.

Good work on find the tub and getting your temps right. I don't think a thicker glass would be a wise idea - don't want to prevent those rays from getting to the plants.

It's too bad to see you limit yourself from the massive online selection of product.. I saved a couple hundred bucks by ordering my vortech fan online and I only had to wait 3-5 bus days. Good luck to you though.

I decided to go for soil for my first grow after all, and then go hydro if all grows well.
BTW, I've found a grow shop in neigbouring country, and they sell Canna hydroponic nutes, and other grow paraphernalia. So I'll save on shipping expenses once I go hydro, being cheap bastard that I am.
DP, thanks for your input, it has been most usefull.

Ah, yes, I've found a hurricane lamp shade on e-bay. I'm going to make a cool tube to see if I can keep the noise level even lower (I'll change all my 120mm fans with 92 mm ones). Till then my diy hood will do.
