Finally, Drug Abuse Institutions 'ease up' on cannabis use

I might sound kind of nerdy, but at least I'm still a kid, so its not THAT bad Just reading the new upfront magazine that is published by new york times columnists/journalists/reporters,etc, but it is in association with Scholastic (largest children's book company).

Anyways, this magazine is mostly intended for children, hence the easy to read and short stories.

However, the point of this thread being that I saw a 2 page ad (mag is 30 pages) sponsored by the national Institute of Drug Abuse (NIDA), and I noticed there was absolutely no mention of cannabis!!! In fact, the first drug mentioned was tobacco. Following tobacco the list went as follows: inhalants, meth, cocaine, injection drugs use, and prescribed medications (oxycontin, xanax, valium)

I was just really to pleased to see there was no mention of cannabis

It was probably a typo.

I'm sure someone will inform NIDA of thier error and it will be corrected, or maybe they finally received those new and improved pull your head out of your ass spoons and are concentrating on the real dangers now.

I sure hope so. It gets old having to de-program my kid all the time.

Well, The Anchorman, I wish you could see the ad.

There was no typo. This was a large 2 page ad. Under the main section is says "Research shows..." and goes on to talk about the effects of the drugs I have mentioned earlier.

I believe they are beginning to see the minor effects cannabis can have on the users. Possibly even for children.

Montreal, you should scan the advertisement and post it on here! I don't know if you have access to a scanner though. I have one of those badass printers that came with my Dell and it is a scanner/copier/printer. Ok, enough about my printer. You should try and post it here so we can see what it looks like!

I know, but what can ya do? Oh well, I used to read Scholastic when I was a kid. Was that the magazine that also had the pictures and you had to find stuff in them, like a broom or comb?? If it was, that was good fun.

I believe there was a magazine called Scholastic. I dont remember the picture part, but considering they are the largest childrens book company in the world I wouldn't be suprised.

i got taken down for marijuana posession last year and the court ordered me to go to drug counseling as a result.

i can assure you they view marijuana use like cocaine use, alcohol use, heroin use, whatever. they did not ease up, they gave me a hardass time.

one ad doesn't mean much, imo

but i do think views on mj are slowly being liberalized, maybe it will be legal by 3007

Foolintherain, I had to go to the exact same bullshit. It especially sucked since I had to go to it for 5 weeks and it was around 100 bucks to be allowed to "join".

tell me about, mine cost $200+ a session (luckily mine was covered by insurance) and i had to go for 3 months, would have been longer if the court didnt let me off the hook. whole time i had to lie about how i hadnt been smoking and i had to have a vile of fake piss tucked behind my balls + i had to wear tighty whities the whole thing was very unpleasant
