Few questions for next season

oh yeah, and i agree with jj, spread them out, a few here a few there. look for areas somewhat near the edges of forests and fields or areas near streams and other water sources. you might get a better quality of soil there then other spots. from the soiund of it though, you will probably have to haul in some soil. just mix it with the stuff you dig up and you should be fine.

Yeah backcountrys has very good threads on the reservoir and irrigation lots of good knowledge in there. Well Im planning on having at least one reservoir hooked up to a drip system that waters automatically, should I have just one reservoir or maybe two spread apart? Also for about 300 plants about how big of a reservoir should I get? How many gallons that is? I dont want anything enormous but something I dont have to refill very much.

Its not a good idea to put all your eggs in one basket. I never put more then 10 in one spot.

You could dig large holes, remove the rocks, add some composted manure and dolomite lime and be good to go if the soil is good and dark......
you got some more research to do. lol.
try this thread for starters. backcountry's outdoor resevoir. i'll do some more searching and see what else i can find.

couldnt have said it better myself. 300 plants is going to need one hell of a resivoir. a few gallons a plant id think

if you are going to follow the advice of spreading out your plants in smaller patches, i would imagine you will want a few different resevoirs. backcountry dug his into the ground if i recall, so i guess how big it is depends on how deep you want to dig.

yeah Im definatly going to spread them apart for securty reasons dont want them getting spotted and or ripped. Yeah I was thinking of actually buying some water tanks I could bury but their pretty expensive and doing it Backcountrys way is much more simple and cheap the only problem Id have is getting water into the reservoir once it depletes itself which would be fairly quick considering the size, I believe backcountry could get his from a creek but I do not have any water source except perhaps a nasty watering hole for animals with who knows what in it.
