Man that's a real sad story......I'm very sorry for your loss. Congrats on doing the right thing though.......it's nice when we have the ability to be humane.

I just got all tearey eyed, i feel for you. we just put our family dog down after 13 years. There is nothing comparable (except having children, maybe) to finding a good friend in your pet and losing that friend. I hope you begin to feel better though it may take awhile.

Mannnn I feel for you my friend. Having to make a decision in cases like this is very difficult. I love dogs and had to go through the same in the past. My dogs are like my own kids to me and from your thread I could tell you were very close to dog. Best of wishes my friend.

I read this quote on a dog calendar and liked it so much I have it hanging on my office wall:

"He is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog. You are his life, his love, his leader. He will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart. You owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion."

Again my deepest sympothy for you my friend.

sorry for your loss. Life is so beautiful and so heartbreaking at the same time. Thanks for sharing the story. It brought a teary smile to my face.

You will have other pets...and the bond you share with them will be just as meaningful, but you are right all pets, Keira included are one of a kind. Always remember that she was lucky to have the life she had with you. And visa versa. Grieve...then love again.

Peace be with you.

I'll paste this here, I wrote this in Bud Meister's thread...

Wow, I'm so sorry. Losing a dog is like losing a part of your family. All I can say is that you should try to stay positive. Get another dog as soon as possible and show that dog the same love you showed the Corporal. There is another dog that needs you right now just as much as he did, and you owe it to yourself to stay happy and focus on positivity. I hope this message finds you stoned and blissful.

Your dog sounds like he loved you very much. Now that you have excess love, go find a new pup to hold down the fort while you're away.

I suggest staying away from Jack Russells tho unless you're into hyperness and never-ending running. Not that there aren't better examples of them, but not all of 'em are Wishbone. LOL

German Shepherds rock the house, as well as a pitbull if you own it from a puppy...
I don't suggest taking a pitbull though unless it's a PUPPY!!!!!

And Sharpees (sp?) are nice as well if raised from a pup. GOOD LUCK and may you have a proper burial to commemorate his death if you're able to. PEACE

so please, show some love to another pup and keep positive. We all have trying times. At least you have weed and freedom, which is priceless! PEACE TO YOU~
