so when I look through these forums, I get lots of great ideas but my lack of experience has me kind of swimming in a fog regardless, always looking for more hands pointing the right direction, the community here has been awesome to me so far, so i'll keep leaning in:
I've bumped the lighting on my seedling to 4x 23w CFL @6500K for I think 5400 lumens if the bulbs are advertised correctly. I also have these two long CFL lights, double-tubed (42w per fixture) that have a lower color temperature, i'm guessing something like 2500K or 2700K, I don't know much about it yet.
my question is: do I have enough light? like I said, i'm starting real small, ventilation and circulation are not a problem. I like the idea of using CFLs because they are inexpensive and fixtures are amazingly convenient and easy, but I am concerned with having enough light to grow a strong and happy plant.

also made a terrible noob mistake, I was using some cardboard boxes to raise my plant and they got wet, lucky enough, i'm paranoid about temperature and humidity so when I noticed the temp dropped to 60 something I went to check and saw that my little baby, had fallen over. I scooped her up and repotted her (the pellet was separated from the dirt, with the seedling firmly grounded in it). I think I had a mini heart-attack, i'm still not sure what else I can do to save her

I bet that it will seem affected as it deals with the shock. Keep it it and it's environment
stable while it gets over it.
I just trimmed a plant in veg and it already looks less happy (the situation
with my lights necessitated the action...I have an AK thread here somewhere).
I know that it will take off soon enough.

You can get tons of good advice here. But you really wont understand it. Until you experience it. Good to stay simple at first. And pay attention to how your plants grow. Try a little this, and a little that. And you will learn what makes your own plants happy. And when they are happy. You will be happy.

mixing your own soil, from scratch where you know EXACTLY what is in it, and then you just gotta use water. sure, teas will help, or foliars(spraying diluted-strength fertilizer on a plants leaves)..but in an organic supersoil, it becomes a lot easier...and you can reuse the soil after each grow, and it keeps getting better, as long as you re-amend it!

keep on reading....don't blow your money on genetics until you can grow a plant. I'd try some tomatoes at first to get the room dialed in and be prepared to fail a few times, don't give up and keep on growing and in time you'll have something wonderful for your labors. have fun!
i'm a little sketched about uploading pictures from my phone, which is the only camera i have, she's well into flower, about 4 weeks, which i'd imagine leaves another 4 before i should chop, unfortunately, i'm also moving around that time. i think what i might have to do is hang her in a large luggage case during the move and build a drying box at the new place to finish the process, kind of a weird position i didn't think i'd be caught in, but so far, every compensation i've made seems to be beneficial.

in my next grow i intend to go fully organic, as i am also fiddling around with vegetables this season.
Take the picture with your phone and then email it to yourself, where you can upload it from your computer. Thats exactly what I do.

i had to factory reset my new "smart"phone because it was glitching out so hard, so no pics this go round
and the good:
quality herb even though i chopped two weeks before i really wanted to. didn't get much yield, but i didn't have a very big pot and alot of the veg trimming i did seems to have boosted the roots more than anything, i got about 7 g dry of really nice smoke, i think i've kinda got the drying and curing process down, or i was just lucky and have really good starting plant material, i could see how cfls might be less effective on multiple plants, but for a single plant, i really felt like i accomplished creating some really good quality smoke. thanks everyone for the help, definitely giving it a few more gos
