Fantastic Irony

If you haven't heard the news, let me have the pleasure of informing you that documentary film maker Michael Moore's latest opus--Sicko, due to be released two weeks from tonight (USA)--has been pirated and is now available for free download!

Let me say now, I do not condone stealing. I also wish Michael Moore no ill will. And this thread is not intended to start an argument about the virtue of his politics or his film making. Moore is a rather polarizing figure :dueling: and I for one have no intentions of trying to change anyone's opinion of him.

However, I would be lying if I didn't admit to enjoying this story very much:

Moore certainly is as, if not more wealthy, than the executives he criticizes in his curent and past works. So, I'm looking forward to watching the poise he will show when confronted with some a-hole that is attempting to pick his considerably deep pockets.

Let the games begin... :lurk: :joint:

I don't think he minds.
He was encouraging people to pirate Farenheit 911
but that might have something to do with his attempt to influence the
2000 presidential election.

hunt4genetics is correct, thus far Moore's only expressed opinion is pro-sharing, which I think is probably the most kick-ass thing about him... (his films are a little bit self-indulgent imo, but he is a gifted political artist).

No prob, sarge. you made a good point and I should have explained where to find the story instead of put a naked link, like that.

Obviously I'm new here.

For anyone interested in the story just google Sicko pirated video and you'll find the story and a link to download the movie.

It was funny being suspected though, as I am a libertarian and well, you know...

I just saw a brief news report on CNN about Sicko being leaked on the internets.
They implied that because moore went to cuba, and the US government threatened to confiscate the master copies.... the story implied vaugely that Moore himself might have leaked it!

Personally, I would need a credible non-Moore-related named source to believe that the gov actually threatened this. The Trerasury Dept.? Justice? Homeland security? That would go right to the head of a long, long line of Bush Adm. own goals. It would be fantastic publicity though, which is why I don't buy it without proof.

If Moore condones the file sharing or even leaked the film to the internet himself, than my respect for him will increase greatly. It's interesting because it would create a major problem with his biz partners including the Weinstein Bros. Moore might have to be his own producer on the next project--wbich is no doubt quite feasable for him at this point. Thx for the update h4g...
