fan utilization choice question

Hey All-- I'm about to set off the grow diary in a minute...but a design question in the interim:

I'm fashioning a tent that's 2'x6'x78" tall. 77.99 cubic ft.

There's a 1000w hps going in there with a glass covered, air cooled reflector. I'm planning on blowing straight through the reflector with an intake and exhaust dedicated to the light.

I've got two daytons, a 100cfm and a 300cfm.

Now, which blower should I use for cooling the light, and which for ventilating the tent? That's what I'm trying to figure out.

Thanks a bundle! :joint: :chin:

well, its not nearly enough, temps are near 90 under the light, and about 81 over it.

i need some help guys....I can't afford a $400 portable ac. what can I use?

will an upgrade to a powerful vortex blower do the trick?

i'll second "got bud's" two cents and raise ya two more!!

u only need a single fan to cool a single housing, the push/pull config is more for multiple lights ducted in series.

i would run a 6" inline vortech for the light and a 465 dayton for the tent ... i know you allready have what you have ,,, but thats what i would run. so what im trying to say is i dont think you are moving enough air.

Dayton blowers are nowhere near as efficient as an inline. Once you load a Dayton with the chore of pulling/pushing air through ducting they lose efficiency at a fast rate. Also, the Dayton is ment to push air not pull where an Inline can be utilized in either config.

yeah i would agree the "dayton" product has alot of limitations.
the inline fans are very sweet but u get what u pay for and the good fans cost real good money!!

thanks guys

well, I ended up just jury rigging a $90 window ac with some ducts. not happy about the power draw, but its nice and fresh up in there. brisk, even.

now i got:

100cfm dayton pulling out of room
300cfm dayton venting the hood
a bunch of passive furnace filter intakes
5000btu window ac ghetto ducted into 4" intake in room running on low fan, low cool

certainly never buying these quaint squirrel cage fans again.
