I have the TD 100X (same size, more airflow) and it is seriously taxed by my 250 watt 20 cubic foot freezer. Consider spending the $139 on a larger fan alone and building a DIY scrubber. I built mine with a 1/2 inch carbon bed rather than the "standard" 1 inch to increase airflow. I'll have to re-fill more often but, it's lasted through two 75 day flowering periods and is still scrubbing.

It looks cool! not sure about the fan though.

HTGhydro on ebay has some GREAT prices on their combos also. they use "vortex" style fans, and they tend to run a little more CFM's then the one you are looking at.

But this one here looks good. The only question I really have is the review says that they recomend getting better charcoal?? this makes me question thequality of the scrubber itself.

to add to freezer.....

I built the DIY scrubber from durban poison and it worked flawlessly my first cycle. gunna start my second in 6 days. I used the 6'' core with 8'' outter and a 265CFM active air blower for my 16cuft cab. OVERKILL for sure but ODORLESS too :) and air flow is perfect IMO

DIY is a great way to go if you are confident in your building abilities.

The TD line is great - they are very, very quiet. I don't think you appreciate just how small - physically - that fan you posted the link to is. It's about the size of your fist. That's it.

Your best bet is to get not one fan but two. A dedicated hood fan (TD-100 will probably do for a relatively low wattage light) and a TD100x for the scrubber.

Don't get them at Hydrowholesale. Get them at HVACquick.com. The cost there for a TD-100 is $68.00 and a TD-100X is only $80.00. That will ensure your cab is cool and stealthy as hell. If you are feeling flush, spring for the 6" TD-150x. It's only $127.00 on that site - vs. $149.00 on HW.

As for the scrubber, if you do not want to DIY - grab one off of ebay. More scrubber for less money - and they are made to be refilled.

Only if you're the Incredible Hulk. My hands are larger than average and the TD 100, at 6x9 inches, is about 5-6 times larger than my fist. Yes they're considerably smaller than a 4" Vortex (approx 12 in dia) and MUCH quieter but, everything's a trade off, they just don't suck (or scream) like a Vortex.

I LOVE my S&P but would strongly recommend that whatever CFM rating you think you need, get the next model up.

Vinny! I appologize! htgsupply is running LOW on stock on Ebay!!!

NEVER seen it like that before!!!

here is a link to a combo a bit more price but they are out there! just gotta look.

Ive relied on HTG for most of my stuff, not sure why such a low inventory??

Hope this helps if you need more info Id be glad to look up a couple more for you being I through you on a goose chase!!!

Pass on that HTG fan/scrubber combo. They are total bullshit, spend the extra money and buy the real equipment.

Only if you're the Incredible Hulk.

 Alright, I exagerrate a little. Still, the flanges make up much of that. The main body of the fan is still pretty damned small.

what i wanted was 2 fans a 100x for a filter and a 150 for the light. im thinking im just going to make a diy filter and switch the fans around so use the 150 for the filter and the 100x for the light. does anyone think ill have a problem cooling a 400 in a ss2 with a 100x?

Depends. What's your plan in terms of cooling the light? Will you be using cooler than ambient room temperature air to draw in via intake to cool your light? (At least for 6-8 months of the year?)

Yes. I get that. But from where will you be intaking the air to cool your light?

Around these here parts, the air to be drawn into the cooltube from an outside vent is frequently frosty and sometimes downright *snowy*.

When your cooltube intake can be cool or sometimes even frosty air, your fan does not have to work as hard as, say, if you lived in Southern Cali. Under those circumstances, your fan is pushing out hot air, without the added plus of also replacing it with cooler than room temperature air (well - for much of the year).

If it were colder where you live, I'd say go for it. But it isn't.

So I think the answer is "maybe" - which implies the reverse "maybe not" may also be true.

Freezerboy's advice to go a little larger than you think you might need is probably sound. Go for the TD150x. If it's far more than you need - I imagine you can Craigslist it without much of a loss and get the TD100X to replace it.

It is also true that buying more fan than you need allows you to use a speed controller to drop the revs down and keep the noise levels to a minimal level - so that's a real plus.
