Fall Cop Choppers?

M

mallyone

I was just reading through this post:
http://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?p=1199580#post1199580

And there was one section that caught my eye, he (or she) mentioned cop choppers which I think seem to jump into action in the fall. I was just curious if anyone has heard of the cops organizing things like this at outdoor harvest time?

I would think with the proliferation of indoor grow-ops, something like this wouldn't really happen that often unless on a solid tip. But to chop at harvest time, that seems like cruel and unusual punishment.

Anyways, just curious if anyone has heard of anything like this happening.

yea, its no myth. my area has no less than 5 choppers a day mid august through september.....and there's normally no chopper traffic ever except for an odd chopper ambulance

pure evil...

Wouldn't that be considered an invasion of privacy? I guess plain sight from a helicopter would be different than snapping ir pictures of every house looking for a grow.

don't mean to pry but are you guys from the US? Canada? the UK?

Yup, they're flyin' here too, heard the chopper a little northwest of my house yesterday afternoon. I was on the porch having a drink. Going by loudness it was nice and low, I could almost feel the deep "whump whump" of the blades. It did not fly around front where I could see it tho.

Seemed to be checking our city's local bush areas - dubbed by me the ripper zone.

Planes fly here too, I know for a fact there's a couple local pilots that help LEO w/ the search. My plants are nowhere near, so I am not alarmed at all. All singles, well-spread.

but...

I sure hope a large bird flies thru their cockpit windhield while they're buzzin' the treetops...Wild turkey would do nicely.

Peace

i won't -k u frogger, because i know u didn't mean anything bad by it, but lets not talk about bringing in people to drop blackhawks. even if they are searching for our crops, people fly choppers, and at least with me, i value a person's life over my crop, no matter how nice it is. I have a close friend who flies blackhawks in the military, so that joke really isn't appreciated over here.

what you want to do, is put the projectile into the rotor hub on top of the chopper - it's the hump looking thing that the main rotor sticks out of . If you are an expert, hitting the rear rotor would also do the trick.

here's a concept I wanna share with all the outdoor folks regarding flyover searches.the government uses helicopters to do 2 main objectives;fighting forest fires and looking for guerilla grows.but because of budget guidelines they are only alloted so much money for fuel per year unless natural disasters cause more funds to be diverted for fuel costs.so during drought years growers with irrigation sources have little chance of a flyover searching for grows.that was the way its been here in texas for the last 2 years.I don't remember any flyover busts.this year is different.lots of rain.no fires.lots of fuel to be used.federal budgets are also a queer thing;if you don't use or spend all of your alloted budget it can get cut back in the next year.no department wants a budget cut,so the idea is to use the money or fuel funds in any way possible.also something new to my area is giant grows,up to 10,000 plants being found.that fuels their urge to hunt for more.the 10,000 plant grows only make our trying to bring in our smaller gardens more stressful.I'm absolutely not trying to spark paranoia, just realization of how the system operates so choices of growspots are stealthy, have a nearby source for water and we have knowledge that some years are a breeze, and some are considerably riskier.just a lil' tip from uncle 'Buz.enlighten and expand

Choppers came to our outdoor spot the other day. Hovered for a few minutes taking pictures. No problems because our scripts are clearly posted and pointed towards the sky.

Throwing things at the chopper or trying to take it down is about the worst thing you can do. Expect to go to jail for a long long time.

I live in the booneys and they have been buzzin around bigtime lately! :spank: .I know theres a min height they can fly over a house and i know they are breaking that by flying way too low.I know theres peeps all over these mountains that grow and they do this every year :rasta: , but i never hear about anyone gettin nabbed. My Purple Urkle is sticking out like mad but they will never see it(freekin purple as hell, lol).Just a big waste of tax payers money, imo, more of a sight seeing joy ride fer the pigs.Peace and stay safe,PVP

:joint: OutDoor DonkeyDick with the spider thats ridin it,lol. :headbange

I don't really have much of a problem with them flying around and busting the MASSIVE grows done by the mexican mafia. They don't really respect the plant and the money isn't going towards productive activities. Same people bringing in large ammounts of cocaine, heroin, meth and ****ing people up. But I do think that flying around busting locals with small-medium grows is just crazy.

Peaville. Nice plant pic. But man that spider is too much...lol. I HATE spiders. I couldn't get close enough to one to take a pic like that. I got the willies just lookin at that thing.

But back on topic. I'm fortunate enough to live in a state that is too cheap to pay for a bunch of choppers. We have a few to cover the state, but not enough to do a huge manhunt...err...planthunt. There are grows that get tapped from time to time, but they are usually so big that you could smell it from a chopper without ever needing the cameras.

Spider = Argiope, Black and Yellow. A large orb-weaver, commonly seen in grassy fields with large webs spun between 2 long grass stalks. Usually sit in the centre on a thick zigzag of silk.

Can bite, as all spiders can, but harmless to ppl venomwise.

Peace

Ohh I know what it is, and I know it's fairly harmless. But I'm the person who all but turned my car sideways and jumped out of my front seat on a main street here because a spider the size of a dime walked across the inside of my windshield in my line of sight.

I just hate em. When they get anywhere near me, I execute with extreme prejudice.
