Forget the rest, ANYTHING with "spinosad" will get the thrips.. 100% organic..will stop them dead, you might also be mistaking them for gnats. Gnats are black kinda like thrips but won't leave streaks on the leaves. Thrips will leave silvery streaks on the leaves.

Gnats are easy, predator nematodes in the soil will kill the larva and any new ones essentially stopping them DEAD.

Edit: The nematodes should be ok in coco too, when i buy them they come mixed in with vermiculite. Good to chuck some into your mix ither way.

Tried and true my friend.

The eggs are laid in the soil and coco or other medium. When they hatch they form tiny worms that eat the roots. Then tiny worms climb up and eat the leaves. They leave a tiny trail of snake like patterns arround the outside of the leaves. Then they turn into tiny flying miniature mosquitos. They fly around and breed but they don't have to because they can make thousands of eggs without a partner. To really get all of them you should use a systemic like Merit which is designed for vegetables. One spray wiped the thrips on my orchids. I had them at the beginning of my Automatic Hindu Kush grow and I sprayed with merit a couple of times and they disappeared. If you don't use a systemic then you should do a soil treatment. They are immune to a lot of insecticides.

A cheap solution is probably already at hand!

Providing you are not nicotine-sensitive, you can take a handful of cigarette butts, soak them in a quart of warm water, then strain the liquid & spray a very fine mist on plants (don't forget the undersides of the leaves) and the soil. Retreat the soil every day for 10 days.

Nicotine kills everything, tho - I would not recommend it for outdoor grows, as you tend to kill a number of beneficial insects like honeybees & parasitic wasps as well.

I haven't figured out the dosage, but spinosad can also be used systemically. I am putting 5ml per gallon in my rez. I figure it wont hurt anything. Spray it and feed it and watch the bugs disappear.

I just got rid of my Thrips with 2 applications of Neem oil and an application of AzaMax. I haven't seen any yet but I'm still going to add one more application of AzaMax. Good luck!

You need a Vapona insect strip, sticky strips and diatomaceous earth killed the vagrants in under 48 hours without having to spray anything on my plants..reapply the D.E for a 7-10 days to assure you kill them off at the root zone.hope it helps.
