F#$%ED up Thanksgiving

Eh, how was turkey day yall?

Mine was shit. Went down south to visit fam ended up going on a walk with my chick to blaze a few bowls and my aunt and moms tag along. We all hit the bowl a few times, my mom like twice and she was GOOD lol off this GDP I been rockin out.. Good shit. My aunt wanted a bit more so she stayed in rotation for like 4 bowls total. The GDP is good but its not THAT good, you know? They're just fucking noobs... Some backstory on my aunt, she's a meth addict and has been clean for like a month so was allowed to live at her parents again. She's older, 30 something, so a fucked up life in the first place.. Just wanted to get munched out before thanksgiving dinner, no huge crime right? Wrong. We get a call about 45 mins after leaving from our grandpa-in-law and he says "YOUR AUNT HAS NO PLACE TO LIVE TONIGHT BECAUSE OF YOU THANKS FOR THAT, I DONT CARE ABOUT YOUR BELIEFS MARIJUANA IS A DANGEROUS DRUG AND I WONT TOLERATE IT IN MY HOUSE", he then proceeded to dial the rest of the family with this hate-driven message of Federally imposed sobriety. Cool. Got my aunt kicked out onto the streets just trying to brighten her Thanksgiving a bit....

That aint even the worst of it, I gotta run though. I'll update with all the other fucked up shit that went down after/during/before Thanksgiving if you guys would care to hear how fucked a family can get... Off to get that $$$$....
Peace.

Sorry to hear about that, man. Yeah, family is tricky stuff, in-laws probably more so. Though it does sound mostly all bad, perhaps there is some good side to the situation, apparent or not.

Lesson to be learned here:

Rule 1: Tell NO ONE.

Had you just taken a walk by YOURSELF - got your buzz on - your Thanksgiving would have been 100x better.

Your gramps lives in the Bible-belt...what did you expect?!? They don't call it that for nothing.

And just because you are capable of controlling yourself - your gramps may very well have been right in one sense. Addicts are not essentially addicts to a particular substance, but to a particular set of behaviors as well. Your aunt, who was in recovery - might very well decide that little MJ buzz wasn't enough and could have given her the itch to take it up a notch - could have created that longing in her that she was personally trying to overcome....

Not saying I agree with your grandfather, but at the same time, I'm not too close minded to understand where he is coming from with such a train of thought. In order to truly be able to defend oneself, you first have to see clearly the perspective of the opposition.

good for you brother. That shit has ruined a couple of my friends lives, to say the least. One Co-worker from Vt killed himself over it with auto exhaust in his garage. Crazy. That shit is the devil, that's for sure.

Hi there oceangrownkush!

Sorry to hear about what happened the other day. Your auntie probably shouldn't have partaken with you if she's in recovery but I understand her wanting to take a softer drug than meth and trying to lighten up her Thanksgiving with the rest of the family. It's human nature to want to feel normal.

I don't know anything about your family other than what you've said above but what an awful controlling mechanism your grandpa has employed there though: "because of what YOU'VE done, I have to make someone else suffer". Textbook, elderly, black & white thinking. If your grandpa isn't an intolerant, religious fundie, then he ought to be. He'd make a great one! And kicking someone out onto the street for disobedience, sheesh! He's probably never taken care of a recovering addict before otherwise he'd know that relapse during recovery is common. I guess to him it's just a blatant disregard for his rules that he's laid down and he can't deal with that.

Because your auntie is the one with the addiction, he should have been the reasonable and responsible person in this situation but his pride obviously wouldn't let him and he's decided to exert extreme dominance over anyone who decides to go against him.

Damn S4L, you quit in 88? The late 80's was the pinnacle of the Crack Cocaine Explosion. Mad Props for being able to quit in the Golden Age of Rock.

So much to say....so little time and too high...expect incoherence
1. Clean from meth for one month. There is your main problem. Was she a thief? Did she steal from granddad?
2. In the future you should just limit your contact with grandfather and aunt. Both have the potential to seriously effect your freedoms in the future. To put it another way, if you growin they are a major hole in your game. I am quite sure you didn't tell mom and your aunt you scored your GDP on the street...
Family can be a pain

Cannabis kept me off smack long enough for me not to want it(smack) anymore.
It sucks for your aunt, but at the end of the day it's Grandads home so his rules apply. I wont have people drinking excessively in my home.

She made the decision to smoke with you, grandpa made the decision to kick her out.
So they can both stop blaming you, and start blaming each other/themselves.

How did gramps figure out she had been smoking in the first place?

She took the decision, you only offered. Probably wasn't the best choice for you, but its mostly all on her.
Recovering addicts are not usually the ones you want to turn on for future reference.

Gramps is thinking he is fighting the devil, reminds me of why I need to move.
His house, his rules. Pebble to you, boulder to him.

Hope your hobby isn't common family knowledge.

Sorry it was such a scene, it shouldn't have had to be like that.

Peace.

Fucking asshole. I can't believe you would do that to your Aunt. What the fuck is wrong with kids these days? Don't you have any respect for the washed up meth heads? :)

By the way I take great offense toy you saying 30 something is old. :)

Yeah lots of good input.. I definitely see where gramps is coming from but I also think its a bit extreme. More of a pride thing than looking out for my Aunt, IMO, but thats his prerogative. And yeah I guess I'm showing myself as super young saying 30 is old, but I'm glad I can say that :) Also I've had my med card since I was 17, so the whole fam knows I smoke and I think its the beez neez for having essentially cured my insomnia, depression and anxiety simultaneously.. Not so widely known I'm a hobbyist self apothecary, keep that one closer to home.

Also to answer whoever asked, she basically ratted herself out.. So that was her bad. She could have said she ate an edible like a week before and it might be in her system still or something. They don't know shit about herb so that would have flown, she doesn't think like that on the fly though probably thought it would turn out better if she just fessed up and threw everyone else under the bus with her. Definitely a lesson learned keeping fam more distanced from my own habits.
