EZ-Clone questions

Hey guys just had a quick question for EZ Clone users here on IC.

Just picked up a new 60 site EZ Cloner. After reading a few other threads on the units, I noticed quite a few people were having temp problems causing stem rot and the like...most say its due directly to the size of the pump because its the same one they use in the 120's.

Anyways, i checked out the size of the pumps that come with the units...the 60 comes with a 700 GPH pump..and then 120 comes with a 950 GPH. The threads were also dated by about 2 years so the question I have is did EZ Clone correct this problem or is it still an issue?

Also, I saw some were saying they used a timer on the pump to regulate the on/off times to bring temps down if it does become an issue. What are some schedules you have used and have had work for you? 15 on/15 off??? or any other?

Thanks again

BT

15 off sounds too long...too much drying time...
a few minutes2-5? sounds good enough if the cooling becomes an issue.

from what ive seen they just need alot of water and a decently cool room and your solid. im planing on getting a couple botanicrap 45 sites cloner.

High heat and humidity are your enemy. While my ez cloner works well during the winter months the summer months suck. I've found that water temps over 75 is too much. With 72 being optimum. Run your ez cloner with no clones in it and check your water temp.

Another tip you can put two or three clones in each neopreem puck. Works very well, and I've had no real problems untangling roots.

in a room thats properly cooled the EZ clone should have no problems, winter or summer. in a 70F room this thing should give u 100%. atleast my friends ez does....

As temps warmup in any aeroponic set-up, dissolved oxygen decreases, and submersible pumps create heat. Reservoir temps around 70 degrees F work best on my EZ cloner.. usually 100%, for many years, and well worth the price.

fellas, i am totally aware of how to use the machine.

my question was...

did "ez clone" fix the problem with there pump size or is it still an issue?

It would just be annoying to spend the money for an EZClone machine and then have to purchase a smaller pump to power the unit because of heat issues. Either way, I live where its warm only a few months a year anyways. so hopefully all goes well.

As long as you use a submersible pump there will be heat issues if the ambient temps are too high. Smaller pumps aren't always cooler and it seems more important to have the ideal mist and deal with keeping ambient temps in range.
You're not likely to have any probs with the ez cloner unless ambient temps are in the mid 80s and up. I doubt a change of pumps will improve that without going to a pump outside of the reservoir.

-You NEED to run the Air pump--preferably the dual hose model to help "AIR" cool the water inside the ezclone with ambient air that is in the 70's. This keeps the water pump from heating the water to 90-100F. EVERYONE seems to neglect this--I discounted it at first as well--but it is a key element.
-ps it's nice to have the pump near fresh air and away from heat sources otherwise it won't work as well.

-Keep the ph at 6.3

-Add bloom nutrients to get a 0.4-0.8 EC--possibly something with IBA-root hormone

-Give mama's water with a lil phospho a few days before cutting clones--need to leech out the nitrogen a bit.

-Place 20-50w fluoro 8-12inches above.

-ditch the on/off timer-focus on using air to cool the water.

-you may have to top off once a week with a lil water due to the air pump pushing in fresh air and releasing some humidity.

-don't use H202 in there it will clog your pump by reacting with nutes etc--creating a slime that clogs the red sprayers. Clean w/ it maybe-but I prefer a bleach/soap solution between runs to fully disinfect.

GL happy g

-p.s.s. i own an ezclone 60 just had to replace the 700gph pump after 2 years.
