Eye damage from HID lighting

It became totally clear yesterday,or I should day unclear..I was up in my moms attic trying to install one of those gizmos where the UV lights extend into the duct to kill bacteria, whatever,it was dim with the 60 watt attic lamp. No,it was a lot more than dim,I couldnt hardy see shit.Trying to read what 5 or 6 years ago would have been easy was totally impossible, and I know what its from.IF you hang your HIDs up above your head when working please wear sunglasses,I wont go in there without them again.I knew better too,for some reason 3K just wont make you squint like the sun will,I just didnt feel the need for protection though I've seen the threads before.Don't make the mistake there's no doubt in my mind now some damage is done, part of it is being mid-late forties but trust me,just wear the sunglasses if the lamps are above you.

I wear full wrap around shades, I have 3 pairs placed all over the grow room.

I will wear them 100% of the time I am inside the grow room with HID on.

You are destroying yourself if you do not wear shades. UV and Polarized.

Thanks for the INfo!
I have never been wearing sunglasses or even a hat. :fsu: Will do now. My eyes are not the best anyway. No reason to make them worse. :badday:

Yeah, I noticed this real bad the other day. Definately gotta get some shades. The new room is BRIGHT! Ran it the first time, sat there checking temps what not, then went outside in the dark to look for leaks. My eyes hated me for it.......

I think the problem is the HID's dont make you squint like sunlight does,at least it doesnt affect me that way, thats why sunglasses didnt really even occur to me much. There's no doubt though,my vision in the dark has definately been affected, take this pretty seriously people,I didnt and may have to pay a price

I think the light usually gets to me when the plants are still small and you have to squat and check out your plants while the light is just above your eye level, but when the plant grows and you raise your light the problem becomes less.......nevertheless SUNGLASSES at all TIME :yoinks:

Peace All
