Extracts- too early to harvest?

How important is is to harvest material at the correct time for extracts? I'm looking at harvesting some material for medical purposes, and extracting into alcohol. Although it would be nice to harvest mature material, allow it to cure correctly, etc., I know the person I'm growing for will never smoke it.

Any advice?

IMO... let it GROW till it's ready.. you will 1. have better end results 2. better edibles-tinctures etc. fan leaves have little thc YES.. it has some. but little less then 10% are the #'s I have seen at the highest. So if you wait you get better end results and better end product. Its not just about smoking it.. sure if it was all just gonna be made into edibles.. I would quick dry ALL of it.. toss it into a brown bag let sit in a hot car for 2-3 days and then cook as you need.

Definitely let the plant produce the full range of cannabinoids, anything you extract will be soooo much more potent and medicinal.

Unless you're just in it for cash... then definitely rape the patients by harvesting early... the meds won't last as long or be as potent, you'll be able to turn more harvests and the patients will end up buying more meds at higher prices than they need. But you're not a schmuck, right? LOL (The local dispensaries are guilty of this)

To the contrary: this is for one specific person, not to be sold. Multiple sensitivities, so there's no way to trust anything produced by anybody else due to applied pesticides, etc. Just a little eager to see if it works for them.

Follow-up question: curing the stuff isn't very important in this case, is it? Not worried about flavor, etc., just cannabinoid concentration (and ratios).

And I believe curing is important, you seem to be in a hurry...thats not good, regardless...let the plant do its thing TRUST ME.. A car may drive in the factory, but i like my car with doors and a windshield/windows.

If you want to get really into extraction talk, go to one forum below this one, which is Hashish/ extraction forum. But what Hydro-Soil said is very important and very true .

Please show me where you have seen a fan leaf test at 10% THC. There is no way that is true. 10% is not THAT low at all....I bet you have not even had the pleasure of smoking ANY weed that is over 20% THC although there has been some strains that have tested higher then 20, not very many at all. Harbor side the biggest marijuana dispensery in the world didnt have any stains that tested over 19% when I saw it on that weed wars show. If fan leaves had 10% THC do you think me and everyone else would just throw them away like we do? I keep EVERYTHING from the plant that I can work with, fan leaves are trashed because they are useless. Please dont post statistics like that unless you know what you are talking about and have things to back up your claims.
