My recently deceased sons Face Book account apparently got hacked in to (?).

A few people cannot access it anymore, others have no problem getting in it.

I assume they got blocked?

I nor anyone else EVER had his password in 1st place nor was it saved anywhere.
And his account just has developed the above strange happenings, ~6 months after he died...so it definitely wasn't him falling for some password phishing or w/e it is called.

Can someone who KNOWS help with that/give advice how to get in his account so I can change his PW to a new one so his little fan club on there can keep him in his memory w/o some people being blocked out.

You are welcome to PM me if you don't want to reply in the open.

:thank you:

I don't use fb... but I would think that if you explained the situation to them, someone in their admin can help with this... I would think. It wouldn't be 'right' otherwise... how could they not?

sh... my sincerest of condolences.

If by chance your son had a cell phone that was linked to his FB account and you still have it, you can have a new password sent via text message. You can also try and answer the security questions from the "forgot password" link. Going through admin is also an option as suggested by MIway, but as with any internet company, this could take a while.

Sorry for you loss and I hope you can get this resolved.

Sorry to hear about your loss. As to your problem, I can almost guarantee you that you know his password but just don't know that you know it. Us humans are so predictable, especially the younger ones, when it comes to that sort of thing. Start thinking about favorite pet, first date, prom date, birthday, house number and other kind of stuff and you'll get it. Good luck.

Memorializing Accounts. If we are notified that a user is deceased, we may memorialize the user’s account. In such cases we restrict profile access to confirmed friends, and allow friends and family to write on the user’s Wall in remembrance. We may close an account if we receive a formal request from the user’s next of kin or other proper legal request to do so.

Unfortunately I think the first thing these "hackers" do is change the password once they've gained control of the account.

Thanks y'all for the replies!

I found out who it was, I think this is going to be very much of a headache to get resolved.

Gonna get his phone looked @ 1st....but that will take a while since it is far away from where I am.

strainhunter if you have access to his email you could always try and send a password reset to it and go about it that way unless the hacker changed the email info on the account.
