Experience with newest model Sun Hut or Secret Jardin?

What's up, guys?

I'm looking to get a garden going after nearly a 1 year hiatus while I purchased a home. All my past experience has been in custom made cabinets (everything from CFLs to single 400W to dual 600W). With all the other home projects on my plate right now, I just don't have time to build a proper cabinet. Instead, I plan to buy a 4x4 grow tent and get started ASAP using one of my 600 watt setups.

On to my questions...

* Has anyone tried out the new "Blackout" model from Sun Hut?

* Has anyone tried the newest Dark Room "2.5" from Secret Jardin?

* Is Secret Jardin still the best in the biz, or has their quality gone downhill?

* Any other general tent recommendations?

Cost is NOT an issue here. I want QUALITY, durability, and more quality.

Thanks in advance!

some of the cheap Chinese tents are pretty good. I got one two years ago that was shit. Bought the exact same size from the exact same people last month that was 10 times better. Metal zipper, light flaps, and sturdy frame. As time goes on the cheap models have to get better to keep up.

Spicy,

I know you probably want first hand experience, which I don't have, but I would go with SJ Orca line. Pricey but more light into the canopy should equal more yield.

Thanks for the reply. That ORCA does look nice... I guess I missed that one while I was searching around.

Anyone out there have first had experience with the ORCA tents?

I used SJ DarkRooms exclusively for a long while. I then got a GrowLab and hated how the walls zippered up. Gorilla has the same shitty zippers configuration and its a pain in the ass.
I took a chance on Apollo tents and they are slightly better than the Darkroom II's that I've worked with in the past. The price is way better too. If you don't need the height, Apollos may be worth a consideration.

Interesting... What is it you like better about the Apollo? Any chance it has metal corner pieces?

My basement ceiling is about 81", so Growlab and Gorilla won't fit anyway.

I got 3 8x4 tents and a 5x5 tent.. and I'm about to switch to rooms instead of tents.. for bigger yields and more room.

not for people who can't blast a whole basement with 30k, hopefully one day. But When all you got is a corner there the shit.

Just throwing this out there... This website sells all the metal fittings that you'd need to completely replace the shoddy poles and fittings supplied with just about every grow tent out there. Just measure the proper lengths of EMT (electrical conduit), cut, and piece together using the appropriate fitting.

Yeah, metal corner pieces that click lock.
I like the Apollo mostly because its a slightly better quality darkroom DRII for considerably less. And the blue piping.
I like tents in general because it opens up the hobby to many more people recreational and medicinal. It solves so many fundamental concerns, and it can be broken down easily enough.

Lastly, its easier to convience your SO to let you run a tent vs a closet :/
