EXPERIANCE growing in COLD

Hey guys

I was wondering who here has experiance growing in cold temps overnight indoors? At night my temps have droped to a low of 12. It is not constantly this low, but the lowest it has ever hit. Anyways im plants are 4 weeks into flower and seem fine but i want to make sure im not stunting the flowering?

I plan on buying an electric blanket to keet the pots and soil warm. What do you guys think? During the day my temps are in the LOW 20's and over night usually 14.

Dam, thats quite a challenge. What lighting are you using?

Is there anyway to shut off the exhaust, or use the heat from the ballast to heat the room/cab? Maybe pull in air from a heated room, or across the ballast.

There should be some way to use your hid (if you got them) to heat the space up at least a little more than it is now.

I don't know about the electric blanket, cause unless your done watering them, sounds kinda iffy?:hotbounce:

Besides, unless its a really good one with very fine temp controls, I think it may cook the root zone, which should be cooler than the canopy in nature I think.

use the electric blanket in your bed. thats where it should be.
cant u get one of the small 20$ space heaters w/fan u could put it on a timer for 30min of every hour... more like 45 min of everywhour, ....
safer then a blanket though.

Where is your grow room? In a shed? How many lights do you run and what are their Wattages, some background please.

Guys

I dont think i discribed enough in my inital post, excuse me. The girls are in a cabinet in my closet under a 300HPS light. I live in a basement so this closet does get a bit cold and overall my house in not that warm BUT these plants are literally 3 feet away from where i sleep myself.

Anyways i know these temps around 15 are low and i was just wondering if i can get away with the odd 13 degree night of if my plants may stunt. thanks.

Are they turning purple, or showing signs of stunting? Are you asking becuase you see something that you want to confirm is cold related, or are you just worried?

4 weeks into flower if they are not a purple streak by now, and showing obvious signs of health problems, then dont worry about it.

The only thing you could really do I use the heat from your light and ballast, and home to try to raise ambient temps in closet.

Do not use blanket, I swear thats a recipe for disaster.

Your ballast will make alot of heat, and the bulb will, try circulating the warm air around, but not venting it out.

Besides, Id like to know what you could do at this point if it would be a problem, other than a space heater, its something that should have been taken care of in the beginning of the grow.

Its the heater, or its not a problem.

Heh heh... I'm assuming these are C temps, right?

Couldn't you just heat your room a little more at night, and leave your closet door open? The grow lights are off at night, yes? If your room is warmer than your closet, you might be able to just blow air from your room into your closet with a small fan.

If your whole room gets down to 12c/54f at night, you must have a REALLY thick blanket on your bed. Jeez. :)

Wait...What?

Cold slows things down. I grow in an unheated basement in the winter, and sometimes you can see your breath down there.

go to:

click on "heating"
click on "livestock heating"
get yourself a pig blanket and put the plants on top of it.
