could i just put a T pipe and exhaust that way,the fan would be running 24/7 so the gas wouldnt come back down my vent pipe

my piping is running from fan through a air cooled shade then out the side of my place,im kinda sketched out about it being on 24/7 this way ,id rather it go out my roof

if you must go to the roof its better to use the stink pipe, i did for many years, i teed into the sewer and blew out a skunky shitty mix

Usually there is a pipe that is for venting sewer gas from houses that comes out somewhere on the roof. Not all houses have them. I believe he is talking about that.

Yep that is an awesome idea. The air pipe for sewer gases that is.

If you had septic in certain situations I would be curious about venting into you tank. With older tanks lids being under 18+ inches of dirt and the extremely noxious smell you would be good on odor also. I don't think you would even need to carbon filter it.

no carbon filter till you start growing some diesel...like i said skunky shitty smell at street level !! i think the pipe would have to be 30ft above ground not to need a scrubber

a couple vortex 4s and panasonic whispers never caused a problem with toilets and sinks all functioned normally...

the hot water vent has carbon monoxide dont fukk wit it !!

I've read many busts of people doing the same thing. :2cents: At minimum scrub it...constant stream of hot air coming out of anything, sewer pipe or not, is easily seen on flir like a flare gun regardless of smell risk.

No, that's why you want to vent on the side of your place and not out of your roof like a flare gun. Just make sure the vent going out is not letting hot air escape into the wall and spread but run directly into an ac unit.

The best way to vent outside (although I would never grow in a house again where I had to do this) of your place is venting right into the air conditioner unit outside. This is because the the hot air coming from the air conditioner blowing straight up is well, already hot air :D

Awhile ago at an old spot I had 4 instances of cop helicopters shining spotlights directly in my back yard and cops with flashlights looking for suspects (bad neighborhood). Not once did I get raided and I was venting 3k watts right into the air conditioner unit outside from the wall. If this is not an option vent into the middle of your house through the attic? I don't know sewer pipe venting is about as safe as venting through the chimney...easiest thing to see from a heli. If they can zoom in on where someones hand has been 5 seconds ago from hundreds of feet away and still see the heat print they can surely see a shit load of hot air being pumped straight up. And yes I have seen a video where they did this and it absolutely blew me away.

If there was any chance they could see it they had plenty of time on multiple occasions. Scared the shit out of me!

If you have to go through the roof I wouldn't stay where you are at any longer than a year. Hope you can figure something safe out. Venting outside is scary to me I always find houses that you can vent from one room into another as a lung room or vent from flower room to center of house through the attic.

my intake is from my garage but i guess i could always vent out into it too ,just never thought about it,that would make my air in and air out ,10 feet away from each other ,i do open my garage door at least once a day ,only to drive out tho

Just make sure it is scrubbed! They will still see your garage door as hot, but safer than through the roof imo.

No.

The air pressure would overcome the gentle heat rising out of the water heater, and make it burn funny, exhausting carbon monoxide into your house and killing you. I know a couple guys who died in their apartment of cO poisoning due to a faulty heater burner.

yea what lazy said brother, you gotta be real careful with venting out the hot water heater. is it vented out of a chimney, or just like a metal pipe? im lucky, i have two flues on my chimney, one for the fire, other for the hot water heater and the boiler. i just sealed off the fire place nice, and now i just exhaust out of the little clean-out spot. let us know how everything works out.

Don't do it. It's really not too smart messing with a pipe that has carbon monoxide flowing through it.
What if your fan fails? Then all that cO could back flow into your house.
I'd run it out the sewer vent pipe (but hey, there's no flir in my neck of the woods)

sewer pipe can handle a couple 4in centrifugal fans, venting maybe a few 400w lights, but i wouldnt try to exhaust 3k hps through a sewer vent.

the garage idea sounds the best!
