GG#4 in soiless mix outdoors. Half the plant has suddenly wilted and is dying. Other half is OK at his point.

I've had that happen. I assumed it was the giant frigging grasshoppers I was picking off the plants on a daily basis, but I honestly didn't look for insect damage, just cut off the dying branches and continued my war on insects.

been a very warm winter

been a very warm winter

just saw the first hatch of lubber grasshoppers on the fence today but this is not insect related as far as I can tell.

I pulled some limp fans and inspected under magnification and saw nothing to indicate bugs. There is nothing on the plant that indicates anything is chewing on it. I do see the stripes in the fans that tells me something is off nutritionally but that doesn't explain the wilt.

I saw something like this a couple years ago on a C99 girl. Really got me scratching my head right now.

This was my first thought as well. If you aren't seeing any gnawed off patched or sections on the bark though then :dunno:

Looks like fusarium wilt

That's what I'm terribly afraid of....found some images and info whilst googling and I do NOT want to deal with that shit.

I would definitely be thinking root problem of some sort. Were they moved around much or had that stick poked down through the soil recently?

Stick was in the pot for a good two weeks before the wilt started, but maybe it took that long for the damage to show itself. Really hoping that is the answer.

Whatever the cause that side of the plant is done. Gonna chop it off tomorrow and cross my fingers.

TBH I didn't even consider that possibility.
