Ever heard of cops setting up a hydro store?

Im wondering if this has ever happened? Theres a hydro store in my city that Ive checked out a couple times but have never bought anything at. Im just a little sketched out about buying things in person rather than on the internet. But their prices are pretty good. Comparable to htgsupply even. As long as I dont buy a SHITLOAD of stuff and I dont say anything stupid I should be good right? Just small purchases. In and out, not alot of chit chat. What do you guys think?

a hydro store can be a good or horrible way to cover huge grow purchases.....i think it all depends on how ya go about doing it.

I don't know about the laws in the USA, but here in Canada that would be considered 'entrapment'. You always see on the TV show 'Cops' undercover police posing as hookers and busting johns. That would and could never happen here in Canada. Just like a cop can't sell you dope and then bust you with it. In reality they can do what they want and then embellish the story anyway they see fit, but if they follow the law it can't be done. Also I am sure different states in the US have different laws making it difficult to figure out what can and cannot be done. Just my 2 cents worth.

I can recall seeing ppl. talking bout cops staking-out hydro shops on this site! I believe it occurs, but whether or not, the odds that this will happen to you is slim to none. If anyone remembers that cabin story that got posted in the tokers den a while back, one of the ways they got him was following him to a hydro shop.
EDIT: I wouldnt let it stop you from goin, just do it and make sure no one is like chillin their cars in the parking lot (Ya know could be taking pic of you or your car). Of course make sure you don't get followed when you leave, and don't take your own car!

There are many legit uses in the USA for grow equipment. I would think it would be considered entrapment. Back some time ago there was operation green merchant or something like that where the Feds tried to raid hydro shops and get there customer list's. But they cant do that anymore did not hold up in courts do a search on it.........

It does happen, its quite surprising what lengths leo will go to. Portland police use to stake out the hydro shop and even had an on going tap on the line. They then would call the electric company and check for usage.. to much; knock on the door, to little; knock on the door... it was win win for them..

heres the case where the beans were spilled... The man that discovered the trap called in and identified himself as a police officer from another city the officer then discussed details of their operation. The defendant used this information to get his case dismissed, but was then charged with imitating a police officer another felony charge.

The OP asked if cops would SETUP a hydro store. I assume he means like rent a building, buy hydro equipment and try to resell it. That I think is very very far fetched as there is alot of money and logistics involved, Basically too much red tape.

But STAKING out a hydro store and monitoring the customers, well that seems to be a fact. If you dont belive it, you need the check the security and legal forums. Thats where this post belongs anyway.

No, they wouldn't do it. It is entrapment. Don't be silly. As Yamaha mentioned, they merely stake out stores, run surveillance, and even at time rat stores out to the Feds whether it is against their states sworn oath or not. They they call it a joint task force in order to circumvent their states laws. One of their nastiest little attacks on stores and customers was known as "Operation Green Merchant". Even quite a bit of law enforcement is too stupid to realize how many people grow veggies and other food crops.

what i love about my local store is after you go in a few times and get to know the employees they let you use the back door so that you can take even the largest purchases to your car in complete privacy

the store that i visit on occasion is good. not really located in the best part of town for a shop, but its close to the casa. i was talking to the guy and mentioned that i was a student in agriculture at the university, and he got all excited about that and gave me some 'zines.

well so far i haven't seen anyone mention this one, no matter how cool you are with the guys at the shop DON'T EVER EVER EVER USE YOUR CREDIT/DEBIT CARD TO MAKE PURCHASES!!!!!!! keep it all strictly cash, there were many times i went to the shop, forgot to get cash and haul azz right back out to the ATM, dont worry , they will hold that stuff for you at the counter until you get back.

the hydro store in my city was staked out. the cops would get license plate numbers and fly the bird over the place the car was regitered. i even met the owner through a friend and he told me not to shop at his store. thats creepy

Damn dont grow if you are so paranoid. It is entrapment they need good proof to get a judge to sign for a search warrent. And buying shit from a store that has legal purposes is not enough for them to get a warrent you could be growing tomatoes and peppers........
