I'm having a heck of a time hacking my new PSP to run homebrew apps. Any of you guys ever create the Pandora Battery and Magic Memory Stick to run custom firmware on your PSP? If you used VIsta to do it, please sned me links!!!!
google a firmware downgrader. i remember taking mine down to version 1.5 i think...then look up the app that lets you play the umd iso images....i dont use my psp anymore or else i'd be better help....
The problem is that all of the downgraders I can find, only run under XP. I have found a million posts referring to updated ones that work under Vista, but as yet no luck finding an actual link :-(
If my search remains fruitless, as soon as I'm done work (2 hours) I'm throwing in a spare HD to install XP and do it that way.
boy i feel daft. im on a PSP posting using hi-jacked wi-fi, but have no clue what u even talking about, but my old ass is interested in getting mo outta my psp. iv learn a lil, but i think ur yrs ahead of me...lol.
so what are u atempting if u dont mind dumbing it down for the elderly(me).
No, the hacks allow you to run homebrew applications. Like VNC to your desktop at home, or google maps, and even interface with some GPS units. Basically, SOny sells you a gameboy, and with homebrew software and custom firmware, you turn it into a cheap palmtop computer.
yup, and from what he tells me is it's pretty expensive.. you can do it yourself..but in order to do it you basically need to know how to build a computer (ie..takin out some chips and puttin new ones in.)
if you're really interested I'll ask him what he did and how it's done. I'm pretty sure he gave it to our one friend and had him do it. Definately worth the investment though.
PSP (any model)
Memory Card (512MB or bigger)
Battery (these 3 all come with the "Daxter pack")
And either a modded PSP with the right software, or a Win XP computer and one of 100 different installer packages. For this method you also need a steady hand and decent eyesight as you have to physically modify the PSP battery (either cut a lead, or pull a pin out of a chip). You never have to open the PSP at all!!!!! Only the battery (34.95 US if you screw up, I did twice)
