Ever feel like a dumbass; you're not alone

A buddy of mine stopped over after work (he's an auto mechanic) and unraveled the tale of his day.

A little after 9:30Am this morning the shop gets a call that a tow truck will be dropping off an '07 Yukon. No problem! Truck arrives and gets it's turn.....but something is amiss right away. When ignition is turned over, it makes a swamp bubble/gurgle kinda noise and nothin more. For a half hour 2 mechanics can't figure out why it makes this god aweful noise and nothing works but the battery. In the back of the SUV the other guy noticed an empty case and a half of motor oil. Immediately, they check the oil..................a call the the owner confirms the suspicion. Sunday was a nice day here and the owner had decided to tinker with his new truck and "maintain" it. He noticed the oil could not be seen from the cap and decided it must be low, so he filled it until he could see the oil from the "Add Oil" opening. :yoinks: The entire engine is submerged in oil, the add oil tube sits above the engine and that my friends is how you make a fart noise with a vehicle and kill your warranty at the same time. :bat:

That kills the warranty? Damn... that sucks. I don't really know how engines work, but is it that bad? You can't drain it out?

the engine is pretty much done. As I understand it (I'm no mechanic) it would/will cause oil to fill into gas lines, air filters, pretty much everywhere. Technically it may be able to be saved but the cost would be enormous and alot of newer vehicles can't be "pumped" or flushed with pressure as there are more plastics and computers involved in the engine. He didn't know how the owner was going to procede from here as he told them to leave it alone until he discussed it with dealership, insurance and so on.

Also I was told that it depends on how many times it's been turned over under that pressure.

I had no problem doing shit to my old '92 Nissan Pickup, but when I got my brand new car, I don't even bother changing the oil myself. I'd rather pay $20, and be left with no responsibilities.

how does someone like that get a car in the first place? :biglaugh: perfect example that $$$ and brains are completely unrelated.

Damn, that is awesome. I bet that engine was a complete mess. I have always wanted to do that though, and totally ruin the engine. Would be kinda fun.
Anyone ever seen that video of a man in the Soviet Union I think that was pulled over by police because his car was smoking, and they found all sorts of crap stuffed under the hood, next to the engine. Things like a tent, groceries and a bottle of propane! How retarded do you have to be??!? People that dumb are a total waste.

I dont think the engine would be destroyed, but it will take a while to get everything empty and cleaned out. I have no idea how many sets of plugs you will go through before the cylinders are completely cleaned out, lol.....
