I read, or found one thread recommending evapertive/swamp coolers , but am trying to find more people with exp with them. How have they worked for you? Did they push up your RH allot? Any models that you would suggest??
My grow room is 5x9 with 2 1K's and will possibly down size to 1200 or 1600 in summer and outside temps never get higher than 80D, so that's my sittuation.

when I looked At this option the only one I wanted to shell out was an 18 inch model from costco (about $1800) mainly because
a) its satisfaction guaranteed so you can return it if it doesnt work for you no questions asked
b)you can still return it even if it does work for you

supposedly those are the ones they use at NFL games to cool down the players area so I'd assume they work but I believe they accumulate water or run off of water/ice I could be wrong though, they may be noisy also, HTH

They usually need a source of water to work. I don't think that my local Cosco will have them this time of year. The price is a little steap, but in the long run it would be cheeper than a monthly AC bill, but I have found several for under $800.
Thanks for the input

check out the site they got em on there im sure, and yeah it costs alot but like I said, you can always get your money back, im not advocating this but it sure is enough of a reason for about 75% of the people I know to shop there

swamp coolers will not help in a high humidity locations.
Average RH here is between 20 and 30% - they are great, not as good as AC but about 1/4 the electricity

They would be good for low humidity areas during vegatative phase but would probably be a poor choice for flowering because they raise humidity.

Thanks for the feed back folks. I live up in AK and the RH is around 70% in the summer, but perhaps I could do a crazy 3 month veg this summer for the heat season using the cooler. Who knows, killer 2K SCROG??
