Equipment for vertical tent grow

Hello all

I have been lurking and reading up on things on this forum for a long time and now is the time to try my first indoor grow.

I am thinking about doing a vertical doughnut grow in a tent with coco with a drip system DTW.

The room I will be using to put the tents in is 1.45 m X 4 m as shown on the drawing. It’s in my insulated garage/workshop that has radiators if more heat is required.



I’m thinking about buying a secret jardin dr 120 1.2x1.2 tent with a 600 w for flowering and a DP 90 propagation tent for clones and vegging with t5´s.

I want the grow to be just like https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=230416.

I just want to start with a single 600w bulb, but once I get some grows under my belt I might add another 600w bulb.

Where is the best place to extract the air to? Into some of the other rooms (free heat) or just outside.

Can anyone point me in the right direction of what to buy regarding this setup? I have no equipment at all so I’m starting from scratch. So a detailed list or just advice on what to buy from a cheap quality European growshop would help me a lot.

Summer/winter will dictate where you expel the heat.

All you need is a 400+ cfm inline fan, cArbon filter, and a small circular fan blowing up across the bulb at the minimum.

A clip on fan for air movement on the plants wouldn't hurt.

If your workshop is large enough, you may not need to exhaust heat outside that space.

I also assume you're planning to get a third tent when you add the second 600w light? 2 600s in a 1.2mx1.2m tent would be overkill. I have 2.4mx1.2m sized tent and its ideal for 2 600w lights.

If the workshop is hotter other times of the year, you may have to switch to a glass enclosed reflector and suck the hot air directly out.

If you have 400+cfm exhaust fan you could easily run stacked 600s, I did a grow with 1800 watts in my dr120. Bennyweeds was spot on with his advice for what's needed. You probably won't be able to get the fan/filter directly above the floor fan and light, which would be optimal, but I have done well keeping the temps pretty much in line with ambient temps outside the tent with the fan/filter in the back(ceiling) of the tent. I hit close to a gpw on my first tent grow with one six hundred and six plants. Good luck!

Will this setup work? And do I need a fan speed/temperature controller or a timer so the fan isn’t on all the time during the period where the lights are not on?

How about my plan with the DP 90 propagation tent for clones and vegging with t5. Would you do it with a different light or tent? How much light would you advise me to put in there and do I need any ventilation in that tent?

You want the fan on constantly. Particularly during late flower-don't want any mold. But a speed controller isn't a bad idea at all. You could also have your exhaust fan slower at lights off so it doesn't cool down too much (aim for about 5 degrees centigrade difference between night/day)
Think the DR90 should be sweet for veg.
And the fans are both good.

I am gonna go with the DR90 for vegging, mothers and clones then.

What kind of light would you put in there? I am thinking about 2 armature with t5 lights. So I can keep one on if there are only mothers in the tent.
I can’t really figure out the growshops fluorescent light. What to buy? http://www.head-nature.com/tree/4065/CFL-lighting-sets/ .
And what do I need for ventilation in this tent?

The DTW system is gonna have 2 reservoirs one for the vegging plants and one for the flowering plants.
I am going to put the plants pots in a big tray with a hole in so the run of can run to a container underneath the tray.

And what do I need to control the watering cycle?
