I understand what you mean. I would say use the air horn on the ones that get rude with you and don’t use it on the ones that are nice. If they get their ears blasted enough they stop.

if you use an airhorn, where ear plugs lol! those shits are loud as hell indoors LOL!

Have you ever thought of just hanging up. Works for me.

yep I know when someone is supposed to be calling me, and if a number comes up as "unavailable" on my caller ID....then thats what I am too (unavailable).

I will pick up the phone and just hang it up immediatly w/out even saying hello. (happens about 5-10 times a day)

I really hate the computer voice salespeople that leave stupid fukin "re-finance your home" msgs on my answering machine.....ALLLLLL the time.

I am being specifically called because of my last name appearing to be of a certain nationality. The callers are using a language that is foreign to me, that is not common in this country, province or city, castigating me for not understanding that language, and refusing to recognize and obey the laws that relate to their business practices. Do I hate Indians - no way. My last name is Italian - I have NEVER received a phone call from a salesperson speaking Italian. NEVER...

hey well sorry if i wasnt very clear. even though i am of east indian origin the spelling and pronunciation of my last name sounds very similar to a certain chinese last name. with a big chinese speaking population in southern california they automatically assume that we (my familY) is chinese. thus they call my parents house and start talking in chinese.

u mentioned that ure last name is a common one among indians. thus telemarketers see your last name and assume your indian. i dont know what part of canada ure in but i know there are large hindu/sikh populations in many parts of canada.

I have no issue with other languages or nationalities - I have family and friends that look like a Benetton ad. The objection is not with their country of origin, nor in the speaking of Indian dialects. What I have issue with is the
manner in which this select group of marketers target and treat me, and their refusal to acknowledge my requests to stop the calls.

i wasnt implying that u have a problem with other nationalities. but by the thread title you have a problem with them not speaking english. and too boot your mention that they are telemarketers. i hate telemarketers too. thats what i have caller id. and i hate rude people of any kind. some people are just assholes. and i tell u that there are 1 billion indians and so i think they will take up a bigger percent of the asshole chart then other people haha.

Oh, and hindi and chinese weren't the first languages here either. Hell, they weren't even the first languages spoken in India or China. Not really sure what your point was there.

well that was just a remark against your threat title. well i guess if they were being rude to you and did not desist from calling u but spoke english u probably wouldnt have made this thread.

oh btw i never thought u hated indians.

oh my gosh 10 at night? my goodness, i know thats past my bedtime. After I'm done watching a bunch of seventh heaven and dora the explorer, i know im ready for bed by 10. thank goodness no telemarketers are calling me then. (am i overreacting here? yes, on purpose, and so are you with these telemarketers)

but i mean, if they did, you know, i'd probably just be a man, learn to deal with it, and hang up on them. Do not converse with them whatsoever, simpy hang up, or speak loudly and say "please stop f'in calling me", then hang up, authoritatively, thats key.

and an italian name that sounds indian? thats weird. i think you're lying ;)

Doesn't Canada have a national "Do Not Call" registry like the US has? Either way, you just reminded me to go check if I need to re-register, or if I'm still good on that.

Hi

We do have a mandatory "voluntary" list for the marketers that belong to the marketing association. I'm thinking these are not the work of paid up, fully complying members. Right now there are no federal laws with any teeth.

I do post on their web site as often as will help, but I've never noticed any difference.

I deliberately call some customer-service numbers knowing full-well I'll be getting someone of the Indian persuation.

Then I ask for recipes and tips on traditional Indian cuisine.

Try it, believe it or not, They really like the change of the routine calls!

Kaos!
