end of flowering, a couple problems, advice please

T

TroubleGuy

here are a couple problems i'm having with these.

what i'm trying to show in the pics is some browning near the top of a couple colas on two different plants. it's a very small area and isn't crispy, but it looks noticable different even glancing at them which is why it made me wonder. also on the top of the god bud (first pic) cola there is browning on the small leaves.

i'm also noticing what seems like new growth on a few of the buds, but it's kinda late for the buds to start getting bigger. i'm guessing heat stress on this, there were a couple days of 85 - 89 degree temps inside last week.

and finally, a couple of the plants just turned yellow overnight a couple days ago. not all yellow, but the leaves on them are green in the inside and yellow on the outer half.

what could cause these things to happen? lack of nutrients? too much heat? help's always appreciated. i'm not worried about it ruining this harvest cause it won't, but i'd like to see this not be issues on the next one.

i tried to find that copy of the list of things to fill out but couldn't, so if you need me to fill that, paste it please.

the pictures:

1. god bud with light spots on leaves. thats theo nly place on the plant doing it.
2. different plant showing brownish area where small leaves curl up. it's not completely dry but feel dryer than the rest of the plant.
3. showing seveal leaves on the plants that have turned yellowo n the outer half.

probably not bud rot, it never gets above 45% humidity in there :joint:

one person in chat suggested burn spots from spraying the plants with neem, but they only got a light mist and those are spots the size of large water drops.

could this be caused by a 2 day spike in temperature?

How long has this problem been going on? a couple days
What STRAIN are you growing? god bud and white widow are the ones with the problem
What was the establishing technique? clone
What is the age of your plants? 1 day from 8 weeks of flower, probably not more than a couple weeks older than that.
How long have they been in the soil mixture they are in now? since transplant for flowering 8-9 weeks ago.
How Tall are the plants? 2-3 feet or so out of the soil but were LST'd to keep them short
What PHASE (seedling, vegetative or flower) are the plants in? end of flowering
What Technique are you using? mild LST on these
What size pots are you using? 2 gallon bags, 1 plant per bag
What substrate/medium are you using? What brand of soil mixture are you using? soil, black gold organic, don't know percentage of mixture but it's something like 25% perlite, 25% peat moss and i dont know the remaining 50%
What Nutrient's are you using? none at the moment
If flowering, when did you switch over to using Bloom nutrients? 3 days in to flower, discontinued 2 weeks into flower.
What is the pH of the "RUN-OFF"? 6.5 ish
What method of pH test was administered? aquarium ph test
How often are you watering? as needed
When was your last feeding and how often are you feeding? they get watered once a day, but they don't all need it at the same time every day.
What size bulb are you using? 1000w hps
What is the distance to the canopy? about 15" now with airflow to keep it that close
What is your RH Factor? 30-35% when lights are on, 45% or so when off.
What is the canopy temperature? currently 80 f
What is the Day/Night Temp? mid/high 70s lights on, 65-70 with lights off.
What is the current Air Flow? 449cfm max, sometimes three 16" fans
Is the fan blowing directly at plants? yes, sometimes. usually after misting with neem oil.
Is the grow substrate constantly wet or moist? nope
Is your water HARD or SOFT? nope
What water are you using? charcoal/brita filtered
Are you using water from a water softener? nope
Has plant been recently pruned, cloned or pinched? nope

now that you mention it, raising my light wouldn't hurt. i used to keep it 18" higher than the canopy but it's at 15" now. maybe it's just a little to hot because of that.

more input would be nice. trying to dial everything in before next harvest in a few weeks :)

I have experienced similar problems by having my light too close/heat spikes. Took a few days to a week to show up. My A/C 1000 HPS was about as far away and I had the same symptoms as yours when the AC shut off for a couple of hours. Hit 95*...! :wallbash:

"Over transpiration damage Transpiration damage on leaves is caused by too much light and heat. In its attempts to keep cool the plant over transpires moisture from its [stomata]. In this case the leaf may immediately look a bit blotchy and have lost it shiny, thick, smooth green look for a few days and then start to loose colour generally and especially between the leaf veins where rusty spots start to appear. These later symptoms of colour loss, rusty spots and general leaf damage usually show themselves a couple of weeks after the damage has been done, a few inches under the fresh shoots, indicating it was a bit hot or the light was a little close for a while a couple of weeks ago. The bigger the plant gets the easier it can deal with the light and heat. Always check new growth and move the light away a few inches if your’e in doubt. This condition is often mistaken as a nutrient deficiency, which are actually quite rare and 90% of all leaf damage and rust spotting is environmental not nutritional."

mine hit high 80s, still too high. that sounds like it might be the problem though. im also seeing the small stretch in the same couple colas that indicates heat stress.

man, i either need to get an ac or get more duct for intakes. after almost a week of not getting into the 80s it went high 80s 2 days straight, and low 80s today.

btw, where'd you copy that from?
