does anyone know how to use a product call GNATROL for fungus gnat. my infestation is alot worse than i thought. i am still in veg phase and i grow in rockwool. somebody please help me out.

I just defeated fungus gnats a few weeks ago. You need something to kill the larvae and something to kill/prevent the gnats from returning to the substrate to reproduce more. Diatomaceous earth and predatory nematodes work welll to kill the larvae. I used yellow sticky traps near the soilto kill gnats and covered the soil in a layer of perlite to prevent any from getting to the soil. I was getting a little discouraged at first, but once I did what I just explained, they seemed to disappear very suddenly after about two weeks. Haven't seen any since...

Im not sure how this info might apply to a rockwool grow, but good luck and I hope this helps.

Mix the gnatrol as per directions and add it to your rez. Repeat in 7 days.

follow pete's advice, and if they are indeed fungus gnats, they should slowly die off. there are pests out there that can be confused with fungus gnats.. root aphids for instance..

good luck

Just an aside, but fertilome is now making the bti-k, which you can get at the local nursery for much cheaper. Both utilize the bti. Best to all.

btk and bti are 2 different subspecies of the Bacillus thuringiensis naturally occurring soil bacterium.

They attack different pests. You want Bti for gnats.

BTi (Bacillus thuringiensis subspecies Israelensis strain EG2215) is for control of larvae of mosquitos, fungus gnats and black flies of the order Diptera

BTk ((Bacillus thuringiensis var. kurstaki) is only effective against certain caterpillars.

There are over 20 different varities of Bt, each targeting certain pests.

Wasn't aware of this, just thought the k variant was but another development w additional insect effectiveness. Cool, very cool.

I would apply a second dose in 7 days to get the new hatchlings that weren't killed off in egg form. It is perfectly fine to add to your nute mix. Just adjust ph at the end.

I used Aquabac (marketed for mosquito control) and just shook some granules into my water container and let sit overnight before applying. This allowed the bacteria to reanimate and colonize the water, before applying to plants. Never had gnats again.
