Elite Clones Question

My question is about preserving good clones. My friend has some good phenotypes that are clone only and when they are flowered outdoors there is maybe 2-3 seeds in all the bud but those seeds are really good.Is this a form of selfing and is it not good else it could be a way for people to make seed from clone only strains. Not sure why it does it think it is a need to carry on or for survival.Would it only contain female genes then and also be feminised. Is it self pollination or is it from a miniscule amount of pollen in the air must be small then to only have 2-3 seeds in all the bud. Thanks

Which clone is it by chance? IS it a mutant leaf structure? I have read/been told that if your plant produced less then 3 then the seeds will be AMAZING if you're able to get them to start which is hard. Are your seeds bigger then normal by chance?

Does your friend only keep 1 strain? If not it could be f1 fem if he has only 1 strain their then it will be s1. Plants can't make seeds without pollen so it must hermi a little even if you don't notice a few late Nana's they must be their for the seeds to be their. S1 won't be a true clone of the strain because the plant has a set of dominant and resesive genes it won't pass them on exactly the same as they are in the mother plant. You can still get some good plants though even better than the mother sometimes but you decrease genetic diversity and increase bottlenecking.

Plants can self pollinate themselves without having any pollen. It is in these freak genetics that this can happen. I have done tons research on this, I will try to find some information on self pollination with elite strains

"Occasionally hybrid offspring will prove inferior to both parents, but the first generation may still contain recessive genes for a favorable characteristic seen in a parent if the parent was homozygous for that trait. First generation (F1) hybrids are therefore inbred to allow recessive genes to recombine and express the desired parental trait. Many breeders stop with the first cross and never realize the genetic potential of their strain. They fail to produce an F2 generation by crossing or self-pollinating F1 offspring. Since most domestic Cannabis strains are F1 hybrids for many characteristics, great diversity and recessive recombination can result from inbreeding domestic hybrid strains. In this way the breeding of the F1 hybrids has afready been accomplished, and a year is saved by going directly to F2 hybrids. These F2 hybrids are more likely to express recessive parental traits. From the F2 hybrid generation selections can be made for parents which are used to start new true-breeding strains. Indeed, F2 hybrids might appear with more extreme characteristics than either of the P~ parents. (For example, P1 high-THC X P1 low-THC yields F1 hybrids of intermediate THC content. Selfing the F1 yields F2 hybrids, of both P1 [high and low THC] phenotypes, intermediate F1 phenotypes, and extra-high THC as well as extra-low THC phenotypes.)"

Yes all the seeds(3 of them are big).My friend says the one plant that came from said seeds is a mutant and doing really with a really thick stem already.

I am sure it is not from rogue pollen and definitely would have noticed nanners.Indoor the same phenotype would produce sinsimellia but outdoors it produces 2 or 3 seeds

interesting I have been trying to find more info on it but there is not much out there.

it does have a mutant leaf structure

Shulman,

Brock1 is correct, you can't make seed without pollen period. Either the plant has intersex traits or there was some stray pollen. If it's not stray pollen then you'll have plants with intersexed traits in their genes and inbred, which means your more likely to see recessive traits including intersexed plants. Those three seed won't be any harder to start than any other seed. If any of this seems debatable please research the topic, I'm just sharing fairly common knowledge.

shulman i've seen this alot from indoor clones grown/flowered outdoors, its just from the change in environment from its norm and nothing to worry about as theres only ever a few seeds .If a plant has got intersexed/hermi genes in it then you'd see alot more male flowers and it would do the same indoors and out.

I agree. I had a plant Hermie BAD. It was a death star selfed seed. Two weeks into flower it had some bananas inside every bud up against the stem.
If I hadn't gotten a wild hair up my ass to check the inside of the flower up against the stem, I'd have never known til I got an ounce of seeds.

Not sure why I checked in there. Maybe I found one and went looking for more. Long story short; They could be inside up against the stem where you might never find it

Does his look different then the original mutant plant? Self pollinating is definitely a true thing and it happens in these freak mutants.
