Electrical Temperature Switchbox

Alright, I'm sure this thing can be made, and it might already be posted on here, but I'm not sure if it can be used the way I want.

I've got an AC and dehumidifier that I want to run in my growroom, but only one at a time. Can I set something up so that if it's above 82f the AC will go on, and once it drops down to like 72f the AC will turn off and the dehumidifier will turn on? If they both come on at the same time I'll trip the circuit, and that would be bad, so I don't want that to even be a possibility.

Any ideas?

What I'm worried about is the load put on the switchbox, dehumids and ACs take a lot of power. Maybe I'll just make a flipflop and figure out a good amount of time to run them for.

AC goes on at 85* and shuts down at 70*

After AC turns off, the dehumidifier kicks on, until it reaches 85* again.

Thermostat triggered flip-flop or something?

Possible?

Ok

I'd be running this off one plug in the wall. I want to make this plug go to a little junction box (that I put together with electrical supplies) That junction box will act as a flip flop. I will have the dehumidifier set so that if it is plugged in, it will work until there is 40% humidity and then idle until it gets higher. This heats up the room. After it heats the room up to 85, I want the junction box that I build to switch power from the dehumidifier outlet to the ac outlet. I will have the AC set so that when it gets plugged in, it cools down to the minimum temp, I think like 65 degrees. Once the junction box sees the temperature is down to 70, it switches the power from the AC to the dehumidifier to start the cycle again.

Edit: The switchbox is the little thing I'm putting together. I don't know if flip-flop switches can handle 1000w, but thinking about it now they're used for 1kw lights all the time. So that's what I need to build, a thermostatically controlled flip-flop box.

There are some good products to look into for this purpose. The Off Switcher is a product you can find at some hydro stores and sounds perfect for your application.

The On Switcher is a must for me. Dont try running 1000 watt systems thru inexpensive timers. Most will last, but I can tell you some bad stories about repairs and damage from doing it. The On Switcher handles the power load instead of the timer.

I would get both for you application, but check it out.

im not sure if you could get the same device to have 2 set points. 82f a/c on, 72f a/c off, dehumid on.
id ask around.
if you wanted the same point to take care of both, you could get a line voltage heat stat w/ 3 wire wiring.
1 NO contact and 1 NC contact, plus the common.
if you can find one w/ 2 set points, let me know where.
