electrical question

can i run two 600w 120v lights in a 15 amp room

i would also have a fan and atmospheric control, etc.

I would say yes, but your cutting it pretty close. You can run 2 600 watt lights on the same circuit, just not much else. To be perfectly safe I wouldn't run anything else, and get an extension cord from the other room for whatever else you may need to run.

here is a formula for future use, you should be fine..


The formula is:
P = V * I

P is power in Watts
V is voltage in Volts
I is current in Amps

Watts = Volts times Amps

Dont use OHM's law when sizing circuits,always go by the nameplate rating in amps.Add up total amperage and it shouldn't exceed 12 amps on a 14 wire 15A circuit.

The only wires I touch anymore are to hang plants on haha but I got my journeymans some years ago.If you use ohms law it wont be as accurate as nameplate rating and sometimes a couple amps makes a whole wiresize difference
