Electrical Question.

I WAS WONDERING HOW MUCH POWER I CAN RUN TO MY HOUSE . IF IN LIGHT POST IT HAS NUMBER 10 ON THE TRANSFORMER AND THE TRANSFORMER IS ONLY FOR MY HOUSE .

Look outside where the power comes into the house. There should be a breaker or main disconnect. It will probably have a 100 or 200 on it. Thats a safe number for the amps your house can handle.


You shouldnt even be looking at the transformer unless you plan on having your service upgraded BY THE ELECTRIC COMPANY/LICENSED ELECTRICIAN
 
I think he is asking how much power that number 10 transformer can handle before it pops. I remember once when there were quite a few growers on the same street. One guy added a few more lights and POW! Kept knocking everyones power out. People got together and worked out flip flop schedules to solve the problem. I agree, if he wants to go that big a pro should be figuring it out.

Call the power company and ask them. Tell them you want to build another house on your lot, or buy the land next door and build. The PowCo should be able to tell you how many units they have allocated to that transformer before it reaches maximum capacity.
