EDIBLES FOR INSOMNIA ??

I used to smoke a bowl about an hour before bed, get couch-locked and go to sleep. Worked great for my insomnia. I find lately though that my lungs/throat just don't handle it as well anymore (I'm 66).
I was told that ONLY smoking will get you couchlocked. True/False ?
I'm hoping not. Can anyone suggest something (edible, tincture) that the ACTUALLY USE with good results to go to sleep ?

it's all about the right dose. also the right type of high. ie the couchlock high. luckily many hybrids produce this effect, edible will work, but it can take a while to work, specially on a full belly. also dosages have to be worked out, too much and it might be unpleasent mentally. never worry, know no one has ever died from eating it. no matter what thought pop in your head about maybe dieing or such just remember it's just the weed and all will be fine the next day.

you can make canna oil and put that in capsules or make a tincture to spray under your tongue. you could also consider a vaporizer, thats a much gentler way to inhale the active ingredients without the tar. this might be your best option, a good couch-lock kush and a vaporizer.

I have found best success with heavy indica hash powder mixed with MCT (coconut oil also works). Decarbolate by placing in canning jar, in hot water bath (just under boil) for 25min. I mix that with corn starch and put into caps. 8grams hash = 50 strong pills.

Unlike smoking, i find that my mind is too alert for sleep until 2-3hrs after i eat it. However i will be seriously stuck to my couch just before i get sleepy. Your results may vary.

As said before don't be scared if you take too much and t is overwhelming, next time just take a little bit less. That is why i like the pills because it is much easier to dose consistently. You can use normal baking methods like cookies and brownies, just make sure you use properly decarbolated indica-heavy source material.

Watch the munchies though, they can keep you up!

why do you add the corn starch again, i've read about doing this before, but not sure what the benefit are, is it about making it easier to enter the blood?

i think the corn starch is just so it is easier to get into the gelcaps.

I like to eat half a regular full dose cookie that i make to help me sleep. Makes it so the eyes are happy to just stay closed and keep dreamin lol

that pretty smart using corn starch for the capsules. I don't know how many times oil comes out of those things.

I have purchased chocolate truffles that are medicated and have melatonin capsules broken up inside and mixed into the chocolate. since you don't bake them, it works well. I'm not too sure if baking the melatonin would be good if you were to try and put it in a cookie recipe tho so it would have to be a no bake recipe :D

make your stuff indica based and you should have a better experience.

I also am curious about using a vaporizer on dry flowers for a way to help eliminate carcinogens. does anyone have any useful links??

Makes it much easier to work with, and the caps wont leak.
Some people think it aids in absorption. Never been able to prove it myself.

I make a chocolate tincture / liqueur using bubble hash de-carbed in this manner-

the hash is then dissolved in everclear, filtered and can be used for any liqueur recipe. The little bit of alcohol you consume helps the relaxation begin followd by a sleep train of zzzzzzzzs from the hash.
