Edges of leaves curling down

Over the past week the edges of some of my girls leaves have been turning downward. They aren't losing any color, they are losing some shine though. I'm running 1 plant in a 5gal. dwc. There are is one 6in. air stone and another disk type air stone. Floranova bloom at 1tsp/gal I don't know the pH or temp of the res. My ambient temp's are getting to be 80 degrees (I live in S. California) I keep checking my roots for signs of rot, and I can't seem to find any. There is a brown color to them but through some research I think that has to do more with the floranova bloom than potential rot.

Here are some of the curled leaves.

The bottom leaves look really healthy, they are still green and shiny.

And the buds still look healthy too...

I don't know what is going on, maybe it's normal? I Hope so, I would hate to have to cut her early, she has about 20 or so day's left. I hope all of the info helps with a diagnosis.

It looks like the start of the claw, which is from too much N. Are you using anything like calmag that adds N? If not, you'll have to figure out away to tweak your nutes.

A clear, negative correlation has been shown between N and potency. Translation: the more nitrogen that has been found in cannabis plant matter, the less THC. Not good!

I'm using General Hydro's Floranova bloom 4-8-7. I'm not using any supplements as I've read from numerous sources that FNB is good all by itself. Should I use less than 1tsp/gal or what? Thanks for the replies!

Yeah, something like that. Those genetics are telling you that the regular Floranova program has too much N for them, so in the future, you might want to try something like 3/4 tsp and some Koolbloom.

This far into your grow, you can probably get away with just a longer than normal flush.

Thanks for the help Weedninja. Next res. change(probably the last before flushing) I'll try giving here a little less and maybe some Koolbloom, that is, if they get it back in stock at the damn hydro store!

I have had leaves claw due to heat stress. it doesn't always mean too much N. I raised the light and all new vegetation was proper. The curled leaves never uncurl.

Your issue is most likely res temp. This is why everything improved when you moved the light further away.

If you increase your airflow through the res and insulate the bucket, the light will affect this less. You can test it by dropping the light back down and doing the frozen pop-bottle shuffle but it's a royal PITA for more than a day or two.

You should be at 8ml/gal of FNB per gal of RO water. You're shooting for 1300-1400ppm so if you're using tap-water (not really recommended) you would use a bit less.

Anything more or less (depending on your light intensity) will cause wider pH fluctuations that will have you doing pH adjustments you shouldn't have to. (Only once when you fill the res. Or once a week when you do an add-back, if even then.)

Edit: As for the 'buildup' I never saw it because I use the simple res management of dumping at 100% RO add-back. I always give the res a light rinse and I haven't had any issues of that. Also, shake your nutes completely!

hmmm, I have seen this problem with flora nova boom before. I think it is to much N. and nute build up.
