Easy breeding question

I am terrible at cloning, everytime I give it a go, something goes wrong. So I have given up on that trick for right now and am thinking of pollinating one of my crops to get some new fresh beans. My question is can I just have lets say a White Widow female and a Blue Mystic male, they do there thing, produce seeds, and vou la (SP?) Or is there some sort of process i need to go through for stabilization. I know that by crossing htem like that I will get several different phenos from my new bean stock. Just curious if I can breed my little guys and still produce killer beans. Thanks in advance

You will find some great plants from the seeds you produce. I am not 100% on the make-up of your chosen strains, but generally speaking the less in common they have, when crossed, the more "hybrid vigor" they will show.

Just keep your male next to your female let the air circulate to distribute the pollen and you will have more seeds than you can shake a stick at....lol.

Making this cross is not really breading, if you chose to "work" it further by incrossing and possibly backcrossing then you would need to worry about a much longer set of rules. But just for a quick cross of a couple strains you like, all ya need is the donors, the time, and the light.

Take care

sup moneyshot...don't give up on cloning ...you might find an incredible pheno from your breeding projects and end up with the Bomb almighty and have to keep her! hehehe

I think all of us ICMAG'ers can guide you through the cloning process......maybe you can tell us all the stuff you use to clone and we can help out....

But good luck on the breeding.......... hope you find your holy grail!

When cloning i start out by letting my girl veg for about 3 weeks so that i have a decent amount of clone possibilities. I then take that cutting, usually about 5-6" long. The specimen that I choose has all the correct criteria such as at least one node and has a few sets of leaves. I then take that cutting, cutting it at a 45 deg. angle or so and place it directly into the clone-x gel that I have. I then take that cutting that i left in the gel for at least a minute and place it into my rapid rooter plug that i soaked in PH balanced water for a day. I then take that rooter and put it into my hydro ton and into a clear plastic cup and set it under neath my 45w CFL and let it go. I water accordingly and nothing ever happens. What am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance

Perhaps you should create a dome by inverting a clear plastic cup and setting it on top of the cup with the cutting in it.

This will help to keep your humidity levels up. Which in turn will help your cutting. It will aslo increase the ambiant temerature around the cutting which, depending on the temp now, can be benefitial.

Ya I am in Florida and its warm but by the time I am ready for another cloning attempt it will be starting to get cold. Is there anything else that I am doing wrong or not doing out of the steps I told you? I am going to try it this time around, it can't hurt. Also i just threw those strains out, first to my head. My next grow is actually going to consist of Wonder Diesel and Double Gum. Thanks for the pointers.

It is also a good step to re-cut the clones underwater to make sure that an air bubble does not develop at the cut end of the clone. The development of an air bubble can decrease the cuttings ability to suck up water, therefore limiting it's possiblities of survival.

Hope this helps.

I have read that some where else as well. What the hell I will give that diddy a try, seems like that might be my problem now that I think of it. Becuase when I shove it down it might trap some air. I will use that and the plastic cup dome idea as well on my diesels. Thanks

those 2 strains crossed will not make an F2....cross them.....and see what you get...why not...its fun......you can pollinate a few buds....and have seeds and bud to smoke...or you can let your male bust it all over and youll have a ton of seeded bud....not the best to smoke....but decent.......depends on how many seeds you want to make.....good luck...elk...
