Earthworm castings?

A while ago, I was given a small bag of earthworm castings. They looked almost like coffee grounds. They were fine and black.

I got a bag of earthworm castings from the nursery. Says 100% All organic earthworm castings, but it sure doesn't look anything like the small bag I was given.

This is what I just bought

There is plastic? and fibers? and other things? and it's brown not black, there are clumps, hell there are even rocks in it. All that junk is considered 100% worm poop? That would be one hell of a worm that could eat a rock the size of a dime!

What the hell is this stuff?

If this is really what castings look like, what was the black stuff I was given before?

Looks like your garden shop has a local supplier for that castings. I'd take that back. You would think they would have screened it for you. If it has plastic there is no telling what else is in there.

Solution: Order online and get an OMRI certified brand or make your own.

I'm on the edge. Of what I'm not sure.

Those castings dont look anything like I usually get. They should be similar to coffee grounds in texture with a light earthy smell.

Heres a link to some quality castings if you cant find anything better in your area. Vierras Worm Farm

The stuff with plastic in it is commercially made. Identical to a massive production line. IMO it's bearly 90 days old. Larger companies pay them to take their rubbish which so happens to contain all types of polymer waste, office waste etc. It's pretty harmless, but like you I don't want plastic rubbish strips all through my mix. Best suggestion is use what was gifted to you while starting your own wormery.

I think that's Black Gold brand EWC, actually. (I could be wrong, tho.) And the sad thing is that they are OMRI certified.

It is Black Gold EWC.

I had a friend call Sun Gro. It is a production line problem, clogged screen. It should have been visually inspected, but wasn't. Those bags should have never made it to the shelf, they are being replaced free of charge.

Very nicely shipped and discretly packaged and you can get a little or alot from this fella! organicworm.com i'm syre you will love the quality and the fast and friendly service.
