Earth Juice - Anything you want to bring up!!!

I think the issue with Ph and EJ is that you check the Ph in the first place :) I never have, never will and not one issue....well accept maybe the meds are too strong for some people!!

Good for nute sensitive plants, but other then that i just use at as an additive sometime for bloom. But ill stick with other organic ferts for now.

I'm new with EJ, I got the grow, bloom, and catalyst.
So far so good. The stuff is acidic for sure. Its seems about as
acidic as foxfarms tiger bloom - thats acidic.
Maybe this stuff stores better in an acidic state?

I used biobizz the last go around. I liked it because its ph balanced and smells good, no fishy rankiness at all. (EJ has some odor)

Not ready yet to make these aerobic teas so I use the hard well water to raise the ph.

Those EJ nutes will get you going for sure!! I honestly only made the aerobic teas about half of the feedings and never noticed an issue. I think the brewing process makes the nutes more readily available, but just mixing and feeding will also work as well even if the Ph is not spot on at first. The soil and the microbes that exist there already will balance the Ph on its own. I think the smell of the EJ nutes may not be the greatest, but I know the final product from the results of EJ will be INCREDIBLY SWEET AND TASTY!!!!

I would have to disagree with the notion that standard pH adjusters will interfere with microbial activity or alter whether or not your nutrient solution is truly "organic". All pH lowering agents are some form of acid that donate hydronium ions (positively charged hydrogen atoms). Be it weaker acids like citric or acetic acid (vinegar), or a stronger acid like phosphoric acid, the process of lowering pH is exactly the same. Stronger acids simply require less to obtain the desired pH.

The reverse is true of pH raising agents, such as potassium hydroxide. Adding potassium hydroxide removes free hydronium ions and adds a bit of potassium. So called "natural" pH raising agents , such as sodium bicarbonate (baking soda), do exactly the same thing.

There is no mechanism by which either of these processes will kill microbes.

Huh, interesting... I've been thinking this might be true all along... my only question is: sodium bicarbonate and sodium carbonate (the first is baking soda, the second is washing soda... baking soda actually has more of an affect on the TA (total alkalinity) than the pH... sodium carbonate however has a stronger affect on pH... I know this from my hot tub a.k.a. "my chemistry lab.") are essentially salts... hence the "sodium" part of the compound. And my understanding is that salts kill microbes... which is why it is difficult to switch over from non organic/salt based nutrients to organics. So, wouldn't this by default mean that the salts would kill the microbes?

You are, of course, right about acid being acid and base being base, whatever the source, but I'd like to know what compounds are being used in EJ's organic pH adjusters. I'd be willing to bet whatever they are, they are not salt-based.

This being said, if people have had luck with the non-organic versions, then perhaps it's all good in the hood- maybe there aren't enough salts being added to affect the microbes.

I LOVE the smell of the earth juice nutes! Maybe it's because I've also added the Hi-Brix to my regimen, so my whole room just smells like fresh baked molasses cookies... :D

(Okay, in truth, it does kind of get a fermented beery/boozy smell after a couple of days of bubbling, but that's how I know it's ready, so even that smells good to me!)

hey fellow ej users i like the stuff i ran out of grw but use bloom with ewc and fish emulsion the stuff is awsome at first i was a using tbls instead of tsp but did not have a prob so now i just pour about tsp +- in the bottem of a 2liter bout twice as much ewc and a little more than a tsp of fish emulsion add bout a cup of hot water shake like hell fill the rest with ro leave a nite or two an its got a thick layer of foam then shake before each tme i water it does seem i could give em more but when i try ff beastly blooms or cha ching it burns so imo ej is preaty fail proof and gives what the plant needs
and i use the rest of my bottles on house plants, flowers, and trees once its not worthy of cannabis

Nice, thanks for the input... I found the same thing with the FF line- no matter what concentrations I used, no matter how often I fed, it always seemed to burn the s**t out of everything... no problems with the EJ

hey

This happened a while back, but I was wondering if anyone had any similar experiences.

My Earth Juice Metak develops crystals/chunks over time. I had owned a 1gal bottle that was going on a year before it started to precipitate the solids and when that happened, I threw out the gallon and bought a pint of MetaK. Unfortunately, this little bottle had the crystals in it from the time of purchase (I checked all the bottles at the store, all were chunky).

So give your MetaK a shake and let us know if you hear anything bouncing around in that big white bottle. I believe these crystals are whatever K+ salt EJ is using as a K supplement, but I ain't no chemist.

I am not looking at the bottle, but I am pretty sure it even states on there that there will be solids due to the way it is naturally processed.

Yeh, my pint bottle doesn't have that printed on it. I don't know if the gallon did or not, I don't believe I checked (though, perhaps, that should have been a starting, not ending, point).

Hey everyone, I wanted to post a link to my current grow...http://icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=173844 - AND of course I will be running primarily all Earth Juice products and some homemade ACT....I love what the last run of EJ did for my harvest and I can't wait to enjoy this harvest. I am trying out 707 Headband, Green Crack and Grape Ape.

General Organics Bio Bud and Diamond Black samples

General Organics Bio Bud and Diamond Black samples

Hey everyone,

So, I was given a quart of both GO Bio Bud bloom booster .5-.1-1 and Diamond Black liquid humic acids 0-0-1, and I'm wondering how I can safely work them into my EJ regimen... I am following Jman's schedule, and I am in Week 2 of flowering... anyone have any thoughts on this? Thanks!

Does anyone have any thoughts on this? Anyone at all? Did this thread get abandoned? Or is everyone off for the summer? :p

Wow, I think I'm talking to the wall here, but I'll give it a shot anyway. Other than the above questions, I also have one other: What happened to Earth Juice's OMRI certification, does anyone know? I swear the first couple of bottles had printed on them "OMRI certified," but now they don't- and I couldn't find them on the OMRI site... anyone?
