Earlier harvest than usual....

Howdy folks, I have a question I'd like to ask...

First off, I'm a pretty good outdoor gardener and grower...I've been doing it on and off for a very long time...

This summer was unusual in that we had way more rain than usual.
Not floods, but enough to keep all the pastures green all summer...
This shouldn't matter because I water my girls twice a week anyway, from a nearby tiny spring..

I grow from seeds and pollinate my girls to have seeds the next year.

This year however, it seems that the girls are going to be ready for harvest within the next 2 weeks...This seems unusual to me, as my usual harvests are between Oct. 4 and Oct. 15..

Not that this is a bad thing, but what would cause my grand-daughter plants to be ready for harvest 3 weeks earlier than usual?

In case I wasn't clear with my question,

I'm just wondering what could cause this years plants to be ready to harvest 3 weeks earlier in the season than their mothers and grandmothers were...

Just a wild azz guess. You mentioned more rain than usual, maybe the extra cloud cover could have triggered the plants early? Also smoke from forest fires if your around those? Maybe the strain is becoming acclimatized to your region? Maybe you breed faster phenos last year for this years seed? Maybe you just got lucky, lol. I wish mine were going to be done in 2 weeks.
best of luck for a strong finish.
Peace GG

I'm glad that I read this one because I am in the same boat around the stream with ya brother. I'm at 36 lat, eastern Ky and most of my strains are close to being done as well. I swear I usually harvest anywhere between September 25th- November 5th.

I have wondered this as well, we also have had more rain than usual this year and maybe that could have something to do with it? I don't see how or what, but it is possible.

Now, I do have a lot that wont be ready anytime soon, but these are the ones that I had been putting out a while after the others (old) plants had began flowering. Now I did start giving my plants heavy phosphorous feedings before they triggered, which could have mde them trigger earlier as well.

Another possibility, in "my" situation is that, some of my plants that I could not tend to often got covered up in thick surrounding vegetation, (not suffocating them out and touching them) but got pretty damn shady in some areas, I know that triggered some early as well...

I'm not complaining though lol, the sooner the better.

Just a thought, I was done planting a week ago. I just can't stop, lol. I am considering building a long (short) pvc hoop house in some vegeation that is thick and will stay green going into winter. Till the ground up about 6 to 8 inches deep and throw in a few bales of promix to just loosen and aerate the soil a bit and then hand broadcast about 6,000 seeds in about a 30 foot row and hope for at least a gram or 2 per plant.

That would really add up. I swear, I put some seedlings out two weeks ago and they are already showing sex, this is a good thing Bud.

But the hoop house idea, more than likely is just a dreamy thought... But in all honesty, I could have it done in 2 days lol.

But bow season already starting, gun season coming up, hunters and wardens will be out in the bush heavily very soon. So I think I will pass this idea up this year, keep an eagle eye throughout the season to find a potential spot for this idea, for the next year. Lol.
