according to this artice you use heat lamps to grow Cannabis LOL
my biggest problem is getting rid of the heat not to add more

THREE fire crews were scrambled to a house in High Wycombe last night,
which was suspected as being used as a cannabis factory, after it caught
light.

Firefighters were called to the blaze in Upper Green Street at 8.44pm
and residents were evacuated from neighbouring properties.

They were allowed back to their homes soon afterwards once the area had
been deemed safe.

Once inside the two-storey end of terrace house, firefighters and police
found the first floor rooms filled with heat lamps, electricity cables
and a large number of plants.

another one for another paper
now Skunk is super strenth and its grown hydroponically
funny I never thought Skunk was that strong and I thought it grew in soil juat as well

The spread of super-strength cannabis such as "skunk", which is grown
hydroponically, is also a cause of concern for the government.

UK: Police's 50th cannabis factory find in city

Asha Mehta

Peterborough Evening Telegraph

Wednesday 09 Jan 2008

---
A MAN had a rude awakening from Peterborough police as they stormed a
house – discovering their 50th cannabis factory inside.

When detectives hammered on the door of the neat, red-brick home in
Beechwood Close, Dogsthorpe, the male occupant leapt from his mattress
in the kitchen in shock.

He had been fast asleep and wasn't expecting the 7am alarm call today.

Officers scoured the premises and found about 250 cannabis plants
crammed wall-to-wall in four rooms.

It is believed they were four weeks old, and just eight weeks away from
hitting the city streets.

The haul is valued at about £70,000 and the electrical equipment,
including transformers, which was rigged up inside and had been
hazardously bypassed, was worth about
£11,000.

these grows are almost always commercial grows not your average closet growers
there are gangs of mostly vietnamese setting them up, putting some poor illegal immigrant in to mind them
if they get one harvest out of each grow op before it gets busted there in profit and just set up another
the poor "Minder" normally gets jail or deported

they basically rent a full house and fill the rooms with hundreds of plants
sometimes it the smell or in alot of cases theres a fire due to them bypassing the electric box
thats getting them busted

who reads newspapers anyways??? most people who have a brain and own a computer get the news online...they pick and choose what they want to read and have other points of view....newspapers dont sell any more so they sensationalize everything for the old geezers who still actually buy the paper every day. Those people are typically not pot smokers( i think todays pot smoker is a little more savvy-er and gets his/her news from a source they trust). But yea OP sucks for you guys in the UK ...we got hit pretty hard in my area a few months back...62 grow houses popped in the same day!!!!!
You guys in UK have it worse with all the damn security cameras everywhere...sadly thats where the US is headed very soon! i already noticed more and more cameras on every intersection!

The media is lazy
in the past on Fox news, They spoke about super silver haze as a killer new strain, they posted some b.s. numbers about hospital visits related to sss. Fox news also ran a story about salvia abuse. The reporter did his story infront of a Home Depot, claiming that kids can buy them from any nusery and get high.

irrsponsible reporting at it's best

if i had a pound for every time iove explained to some that its not heat that the plants need but the cporrect light, well id be ablke to afford a better growroom than ive got now lol
seems like dangers from burning groqirroms is pone of the new angles theyre attacking from in the media over here.
they can kiss my arse...i know i double and triple check everything in my room, and anything i DIY wire, if im not 100% about it, i dont use it, i have a handy electrician friend to check stuff over for me, so I know that my growroom is, aside from the fact that extension leads are used in it(something said to be a risk), is as safe as possible... Im thinking of an automatic fire extinguisher next.....
Bloody stupid journos

as to the risk of fire in a grow room
I recommend a remote smoke alarm system, there easy to make from a normal smoke alarm
its just a case of removing the alarm add a bit of wire (speaker wire is good for it) and run a feed
from the smoke detector to where you can hear the alarm if it goes off

good for attic or basement growers where you are away from the grow and won't hear a normal smoke detector go off

if your more adventurous you could rig it to a relay to activate some normal fire extinguishers placed in the grow room

The local press proudly stated the cost of "Hog" seeds to be 1000 dollars apiece some months back after a large bust
