Well the one plant is pure girl at this point. 5 weeks in, showing some buds, friend said he'll take some pics soon. Has some nice purple in the stalks.
Keep it going Jim - it could be a good one. Shame to hear about the crappy results - I'm at generation three (soon to be four) with my DP Flo incrosses, and I love them to bits - wouldn't drop them for anything. At the moment I still have two from the original generation, and three from the third - all different enough to be worth keeping at this stage. Did you only get five seeds or only start five?
Every time I bring this up I get funny looks and weisenheimer comments but I regularly prep plain ol' m/f seeds with ethylene gas for a week and always get 80-100% females. My current run began with 8 beans, of which 7 popped and 6 are fems. I have never experienced a hermie and this now makes six straight times they've gotten the ethylene treatment.
Rather than invite any more derision, I'll let somebody else explain the ethylene treatment.
Avocados and cucumbers are good sources as well. I'm no botanist but....so help me, it works. Consistently. It's cheaper than fem seeds - and a whole lot less stressful than hermied fem seeds.
Thanks for the info, I used to have time to read a lot of pot posts but haven't these days and that was an interesting post. I'm curious what causes a higher frequency of male because durint the last year I've seen so many males. I just keep knowing statistically sooner or later due for a 8/10 female pack of seeds.
Elevator Man
The girl has stayed a girl, she is almost done and over 8 weeks now. I'll post a pic hopefully at some point, but from your words and so many ohters my pic won't be doing the strain any justice. Really nice structure and branching, just huge lack of buds, and what there really isn't that special or chrystalized. On the positive, my buddy also has some of these seeds and after seeing my results and both of us having high hopes we'll fire them up again. Your words encorage me, and I even ordered the DJ version and never had the seeds show up (fuckin feds).
A couple places I may have made mistakes is slight over fertilizaiton and I had a deep freeze and nearly deadly freeze early in their lives. But everything else in the crop was dynamite. And to all of you reading this don't judge a seedbank or strain on one review of 5 femized seeds, hope you all have bettter luck!
I guess I got pretty lucky if you call 3 out of 5 lucky. They are close to 4 weeks into flower and all are female with no sign of male parts, yet.I have my eyes on them but also have a good feeling.
