so after running 2 years is a 5x10x7 tent, I felt it necessary to upgrade my flower room. well it was a bit more than I expected....work and cost wise, but you only live once right? lol

anyways, heres a materials list and a build list

8x12x7' framed room.

2x4's for corner studs
2x3's for center studs
4x8 1/2" osb floor x3
4'x125' reactive barrier material
10x100' 6ml black poly roll
10x100' panda film (5.5ml iirc)
10 rolls of 3m flex hvac tape
8 rolls gorilla duct tape (black)
1 box 1500 staples
50ct roofing nails w/tabs (removed nails, replaced with 1" fine drywall screws) (interior lining hardware)
50ct 3" fine drywall screws framing screws

the osb floor has 3 layers of black poly for protection
the entire side walls as well as the ceiling is wrapped 2x with black poly.
the roof has an additional 2x panda film poly
the floor has an additional 2x panda film poly
every screw/staple is fully sealed (absolutely no air leaks)
all seams are 3x taped over

3x big kahuna hoods with 3x600hps
8000btu portable a/c
8" 275cfm intake fan on speed controller
MONSTER 65 pound carbon scrubber matted to an 750cfm 8" exhaust fan on speed controller
2x 6" 440 cfm fans for cooling the 3 hoods

I finally turned on the lights last night for a test run w/o plants to get an idea of things. everything seems great. just have to dial in the negative pressure, get my a/c intake speed right, move the plant in (after I feed them and stake the shit out of them). ill post a few more pics tomorrow morning of the hood exhaust, scrubber exhaust, ballast mounting, ect.

I started this build last week Monday. I only had help on Monday doing the frame work. everything else was done by myself w/no help.

thanks, this new room build freaking kicked my ass hard core. I used to work 12-18hr days for months on end doing show car bodywork and paint jobs for 4 years. the work and stress was about the same. I harvested for 2 days (12 hrs a day), then my room build for 7 days straight, for 10hrs a day, plus all my other veg room and clone room work. all by myself, minus a buddy helping me frame the room. I need a vacation stat. lol

pics of the a/c, air intake, 1 of 2 6" 440cfm hood cooling fans. I have about 20' of exhaust ductwork, so I added a 6" 440 cfm fan on a speed controller to help evacuate the heat in the long exhaust path.

so far the room is dialed in at a beautiful 70* floor temp and 73-75* canopy level temp. PERFECT!!!!

thanks, but huge really? imo they are a 1/3 of the size of what they normally should be at my flip time. I had height and timing issues, so I vegged at 75% power vs full power for 8 weeks. I had one week to harvest (takes 2 days minus any clean-up needed, tear down my old flower tent + fully clean, tear down my old clone and veg tents, plus clean. build my new flower room, set up the new veg/clone room (old flower tent). dial in new flower room and flip the girls, and dial in new veg room. it was a lot of 16hr days for 8 days straight.

and I still have 1 bucket of trim to bubble today and a 1/4 gallon of diesel 153proof to evap from my trimmer clean-out.

next flip will be 12 x gorilla glue in 5gal pots, 2x og ghost in 5 gal pots, 4x strawberries n cream in 3.7 gal pots, and 6x god bud in 1.5gal pots, if I have room (pheno hunting).

It's probably just me that thinks this. I'm so used to growing sativas I require 4 ft minimum for stretch. It gets that bad.

4' stretch.... damn

I tend to bend and tie the tops over when possible, or sc a week or the day of flipping.

Nice work...looking forward to seeing these really jamming out.

You see the thread with the straw & cream harvest shots in the CSG forum? I couldn't remember if you had grown them before or not but I'm super excited about these after seeing that.

Man, you've done some serious work. Great job. You deserve a rest.

I had a question about your layout. from the pics, it looks like the 3 lights are laid out in-line length wise to fully cover the 12' length of the room. is there enough coverage of the 8' width though? or do you cover the back 4-5 feet and reserve the front portion for working/moving? it's hard to tell from the pics but it looks like the hoods are closer to the back wall than the front side where the photographer is shooting, so I figured you planned the room to leave space to manouver.

also, do you feel comfortable passing on a rough number on your cost to build? if not, maybe just how far over your initial estimate?

Lotta a respect for folks who can put a room up in good form like that. congrats again. good luck with the grows. you've got some big time genetics there. I had gg4 for a short time but had to pass it on when i got vetoed by my better half.

yeah, seen it last night. I asked the OP a few Q's about growing the strawberries and what they like.

thanks, yeah it was a lot more work that I had intended. harvesting for 2 days absolutely kills me, as it does everytime I harvest myself with out the help of my normal patient helper.

I tried not to keep track of what I spent, but it was around 2000.00. I do have some extras, as I like to have extra stuff. I could have used 1/2 rolls of the panda film, and 6ml black poly. I also have a 1/3rd roll left of the radiant barrier material as well. better to have extra than not enough was my thinking. I have extra weed, spare 4x8 osb sheet, extra hardware, ect. enough to probably build a small 4x4x7 room im guessing.

I purposely put the lights 12" (approx) off set of center. it gives me a bit of room on the entry side to water and do daily inspections. my plants normally get HUGE when I give them my usual veg timing and lighting. plus with it being off set, I can put some "tester" or smaller plants on the front edge and flower them as well and still get really good lighting. like my strawberries on the table. I have 4 plants under each light currently, and 4 on the table.

why did you get rid of the glue? admittedly she is a very stinky strain, from veg thru harvest. everytime I rub against her in flower I smell her on my shirt. lol my strawberry cream (RIP) strain was the absolute worse strain I ever had to grow and harvest. she was so strong and pungent, she made my eyes BURN like chemical burn type. I had to leave my clothes in a bag and change before I left my grow shop before coming home. it was that bad. I loved it, my wife hated it. when she was pregnant she would throw up and the slightest smell of it. lol it was that potent. boy I wish I didn't lose her. she was my best strain for my rheumatoid arthritis. nothing even comes close to her. thank fully I have a 1/2z vacuum sealed in a mason jar.

my wife decided about a week into my grow that all kinds of bad things could happen if i grew and basically it was either plants or family. I donated to a grower who has his own collective and basically grows for a living. He did well with them but i think he's gonna go back to his main lines he grew before. he documented his grow but its on another site.

yeah its amazing how penetrating some of those smells are. from one little plant even. you gotta change and shower and everything before something as simple as going to the store, and even then you're not sure if people can smell you
