Drying temps

What is the maximum high temp that I can dry buds in before I get heat damage?
I live in a tropical humid environment, and I cannot for the life of me get my dry room below 78-80f without going and buying an A/C unit.
Is 80 degrees f too hot for dying buds correctly?
My room is 80 degrees and 50 % humidity with the dehumidifier . If I turn off the dehumidifier, the temps drop 1-2 degrees and the humidity goes up to 60 % or more.
Im afraid to put my harvest in 80 degrees as I dont want quick dried bud.
What can I do??

Is 80f too hot to dry correctly?

Will an A/C unit affect humidity? Some say it will, some say it won't.
I put 2 plants in the dry room, chopped 2 days ago, and the fans are dry already. I do not have any fans blowing on the buds. It seems they lost some of they smell also. This is what I was afraid of using a dehumidifier.
Room is a steady 80f and 55% humidity during the day. Temps drop to 78f at night and the humidity may fall a point or 2.
I am hesitant to put my whole crop in there cause I cannot afford to lose all those buds.

IS THIS ROOM TOO HOT? I'm thinking it is,hopefully someone a lot more knowledgeable will chime in here.

Oh, and another question. IS HAVING A VENT FAN A GOOD IDEA OR SHOULD I KEEP THE ROOM SEALED. I ask this because as of now I have a 4'' S&P inline fan venting the room. I have a speed controller for it and am dialing the room to lower temps.

Well SunnyD looks like we r on our own. I'm finding that this info is hard to pin down. What I do know is anything over 83f is too hot. I'm not liking 80, wish I could maintain lower temps without an a/c unit.
I will let everyone know how this dry turns out .

80 is not ideal but it won't ruin the buds by any means. Just check them regularly as they will dry faster than normal. Don't keep the room totally sealed, cannabis off-gases as it dries. When you dry in a sealed room you loose coloration and aroma because of that.

Ok, we found anything over say 78 does make a difference.
The cooler the better. I swear the buds from the 78-80 room are more harsh and lost flavor.I don't even want to give it away. Its better than anything around, but no where near as good as my best.
Same plants, same strain in 70-72 room are rock hard, stink to high heaven and taste SMOOTHE, with a full taste. Like AAA genetics should taste. This is the head stash . Everybody who smokes it wants THIS.

The buds in the room that was 74-78 are commercial . I know you all know what I mean. Nothing really wrong, but not as good as the lower temp room.I smoke this first, they love it, then I get ruined if I smoke the lower temp stuff. SAME STRAIN, even I can tell a big difference

Strains were Blueberry and White Widow. All rooms identical except for temp. Humidity was the same, at the same time in all rooms.
NOTHING WAS DIFFERENT EXCEPT TEMP..

I believe this result was possible because we dried in 3 IDENTICAL rooms at the SAME time with the SAME crop. This was a s scientific as I can get. I believe this result will prove itself time and time again.

Most people will never realize how good it can be.
LOWER DEM DRYING TEMPS PEOPLE :)

Sorry, just saw this thread and read through it.

Yes, an a/c will affect the humidity level of a room. That is a reason why you need to have the unit either in the window or the portable ones have the vents which go out the window as well. One is for the heat which is produced and the second reason in the vent off the water/moisture which it pulls out of the room. The difference between an a/c and a dehumidifier is that the a/c also lowers the air temperature as well where as the dehumidifier only removes the moisture.

If temps are too high, it will greatly affect the drying process. You need the temps to be as low as possible....within reason I mean... don't put them to dry in a fridge or anything like that..:D The main thing is to have low temps..average humidity is good and air flow...always have to have air flow around the drying buds so mould cannot start. I don't mean fans blazing away on them but some nice light air flow is good. I hope that helped.
There is a lot of info in the 'sticky' section of this section which is a great read and I would recommend it to everyone..

Good Luck

I have a quick question. After flushing by plant for 10 days, I chopped it and now hung it to dry. Two days after hanging, the buds feel extremely wet at the tips and I'm afraid of mold maybe setting in after awhile. What should I do? Temps in the room are around 76 degrees, 50% humidity

A small fan set to low to move the air around in your drying area can't hurt. After two days they should be starting to get dry though, so I wouldn't over do it on that. As long as you don't bottle them up wet they will be ok, it's when you close them off to the air that you start getting mold issues. The worst that can happen for your situation is they get over dried but since you say they are drying very slowly I wouldn't even worry about that issue if I were you. Just be patient they will dry out eventually, sometimes it just takes a little while

I hang mine in a steel shop building with a fan moving air. Not directly on the hanging buds tho. The temps reach 100 in the day. I give it around 3 days. Just until the outer edge of the bud feels crisp. Then I move it to the paper bag and bring it inside for another couple days then in the jars until ready. I have not noticed any problems with heat damage... Mine is as good as any thing else I buy or come across. ; )

I know decarbing it @ 220F heat for 20-30 minutes (used for fast cure and to get THCA into THC) is a popular method. Above that people seem to complain of taste. Decarb also popular w/edibles. It's also time as well as heat that goes into curing and decarbing:

In winter my room is low 70's high 60's. In summer 78-80F. Oh, not sure about CO2 levels if they happen to be in a dwelling that is over 360 ppm. Gentle oscillating air circ and humidity 45-55% range.

if you need to keep the buds in a cooler place then maybe they can sit in a container or something near the floor. heat rises.

80F is fine.. set the dehuey at least 60% though. (I set mine at 65%)

I prefer to dry cooler also, but this summer was a hard one with the heat. I had many days where I was drying over 80F. My buds turned out great.. if you're buds smell or taste like shit I would look at something else doing it.

Yes a regular AC will remove some of the humidity.. so it could potentially take the place of your dehuey.
