DRYING OUT IN THE DESERT!

Not sure where to put this thread.

This isn't the first time this has happened, I finish up, cut off big fan leaves, and hang that shit upside down. After 2 or so days it gets kinda crispy on the outside, and starts smellin like hay I guess??? It's the same smell everytime. When you press your fingers on the bud, it still smells like the fruity C99 it should be, but smelling it from the outside , it smells like some brick weed. Should I have it in a room with a humidifier? What I've been doin is puttin it in a big thin box after about 2 days, and lettin em dry out on a screen everyday.

I would do a grow log, but I don't think I didnt do GN's Cindy's their true potential. I had about 1-1.5 gallons of water per plant. PH and PPM were rising faster then a 11 year old's Hard-on. I'm pretty sure I'll be playin with Cinerella's titties again, and hopefully I can grow better Med's. Until then, I'm usually just a lurker cause there's so many knowledgeable peeps in here, I don't wanta give wrong advice.

Oh ya...the humidity here is pretty much non existent.

Rain on me... :badday: :badday: :badday: :badday: :badday: :yoinks:

I have a large box I can close up and leave plants hanging - the princable is the humidity inside the box drops MUCH slower. - The trick is to know when to open the box. (If your checking frequently - it won't work as well because of the drops in RH when you open the box.) There are other influences - a new box will have no moisture in the cardboard - a smaller box is better than a washer of refriderator box etc. More plant volume will dry slower - lots of ways to adjust.

A slow dry is helpful in protecting conisure grade buds - as you know. I live in a "high" desert - which means we must maintain proper mental outlook also - I understand your challange. Paitence is key, and practice makes perfect.

On the bright side - we don't have to worry about bud rot or mold - if we use the tools and enviroment we have.

Good luck!

PS - depending on mental outlook - it's not so much giving advice as exchangeing methods and ideas - - if your growing good reefer - share the details; if your having trouble - maybe somebody can help.

It's free advice - so all is not going to work.

Try what makes sense to you and report back. It sounds like your on the right track - just have to slow the process down.

A humdifier won't hurt, I've found good deals on them at second hand stores. - I've found larger numbers of plants can also offset low rh with additional benifits.

A friend with weed is a friend indeed.

You have to remove more than just the big fans if you dont want your smoke to have that hay smell lingering. Trim those leaves down to the proper levels and the hay smell will go away.

[ cant be done later.. needs to be done at harvest time. ]

Verite's totally right. That hay smell is the smell of chlorophyll. You need to chop off as much leaf as possible at harvest. A good cure will get rid of the smell for you.

Appreciate all the help. I think I might have found the prob. I just needed to put them in the box sooner, cause I chopped 1 plant down a day early cause I wanted to smoke my own shit! And that's the one that was left hanging the extra day before the box transfer, and that's the one that's not smellin so good right now. I'm thinkin pizza boxes might work real good next time after maybe a day or two of hangin.

C99 sure is a fun smoke though. It's a real good social high. Now I just need a heavy indica for lights out time..

I see what u mean about the chloropyhll smell, I didn't trim my buds as tight as I could of, and now that they've spent a couple of days in the jars I can smell the change - when I open the jars I first smell the "green" smell as the old air comes out of the jar, then after a couple of minutes I can slightly smell the dank - so I guess in a few days time they'll lose all of the green smell and get a more full-on bud stink!!!
