I read alot about making ice water hash because I am gonna buy some bags but from what I read it says dry the leaf then freeze it for the best results. When wet u have to use 2 xtimes as much leaf material. I'd rather use 4 ounces of dry leaf than 8 ounces of wet material to yield the same amount of Trichome heads. Hope this helps.Peace Bm357:bongsmi:

im gonna be contraversial now and say i experienced the other way around....Ive had better yield wth fresh FROZEN!!! trim than dried-I have done it twice either way now with the same sort of amount of mixed trim from the various goodies in my garden.the times with dry, once was just plain dry, and once was dried and frozen for 48 hours... anyway, speaking of bubble, im gonna have to borrow my auntys cake mixer tonight coz theres 136(wet wieght) grams of hermied buds and about250 grams of various other bits of mixed trim and "Scrag" as I call it(popcorn) in the freezer and besides, im bored this afternoon lol.

Hey guys. Crash here ..
New to the site Og'er here ...
I like to dry out my trim then freeze overnight ...
i have run many time's both ways and find that i get much more from the dry/frozen .
i think the most important thing is the ice and time u spend on the mixing ...
i mix for 2 hours and for ever 100-150 grams i use i get 25 to 35 back ...
hope this help's a bit

freeze it fresh

freeze it fresh

I always freeze the trim 1st.
In my experience you can make better bubble with fresh trim thats frozen for a while. especially if taste is important to you.
My best fmcd bubble has always been made with frozen fresh trim.

it's possible to make very good bubble with dried trim but for the bubble to keep the flavour the terpenes have to be especially fragrant. few strains live up to that.

i heard that your pot has to be dry before freezing it because if it's fresh it'll damage the pot. supposedly, the trichome "heads" will explode if they're frozen while the bud is still fresh, because the trichomes are filled with water and we all know that water expands when it freezes. if it's dried out, theres no problem, but if they're full of water, the water will expand so much that it causes the trichomes to break or explode. that's what i heard, anyways.

Personally my best fmcd comes from fresh frozen weed, which i think is because any dry plant matter breaks down smaller and can contaminate your trichome heads.
I'm interested about the expanding heads though because it does make sense. I supose the best option would be to use fresh materials straight off the plant though this is unlikely to be feasable for most of us.

fresh frozen trim is the way to for the best quality. i never have a problem with exploded trichomes dude and i always freeze my trim while its as fresh as possible. just check the links in my sig and you'll see what you get from fresh frozen trim. i think the trichomes are not water soluable anyway which is why they don't expand with freezing water. but i'm no scientist, just a guy whos done a run or two.

yep these seem to look intact, from trim that was straight off the plant into the freezer where it sat for over a month before i got to doing a run

My last 2 batches with the same strain. First was fresh and frozen, the other dry and cured for 2 1/2 months, then frozen overnight. The cured stuff came out better. It was a lot lighter in color, and softer. Full melt out of all but 2 bags (I have 8 bags) for the cured stuff, no full melt in any of the fresh frozen stuff.

no dude im not talking about them dissovling in water im talking about the water that's inside the cells of the living plant, which is still there when it's fresh. but if everyone is saying that they've never had that problem and that the best hash comes from fresh trim, i must be wrong. i thought i read something like that on overgrow a while ago but im probably remembering it wrong. i've never even made hash so im just talking from what i've read
