dry room

For all you outdoor growers... how do you go about drying your girls? I have been thinking about how to go about turning a room into a dry room... My idea is quite simple. Take a small blower (enough cfm to create some negative pressure in the room) hook it up to a scrubber (I know they say blow out but id rather not have a scrubber sticking out my window, so i gotsta suck), mount the exhaust to some plywood that fits in the window and turn it on. Im just trying to have a Dry room in a house, minus the stank. I know this all seems like a fairly elementary concept but I love you guys and your knowledge. Please comment! -Spaz-

iv noticed that a lot with u americans/canadians, that you blow rather than suck through ur carbon filters, why is this? its more effective if you suck through carbon scrubbers, the fan works so much better when sucked, iv tried both ways and sucking defo works better, i could deffinatley see a drop in temps and odour wen i changed to sucking throu the scrubber rather than blowing.
no one here in the uk(europe) blows thro em, to be honest i dont think their designed to be used that way

good to hear. Ive heard it argued the other way completely. Anymoree input? not just on blower side but dry room?

yer way is that ... sucking is soo much better : ) ... ive tryed it both ways before i new the "right" way..
put a blind in your window witht the window adjar screwed in place
cover your window up with a mdf box so with a hole for the outtake link up to fan ... then to filter /scrubber . then get a dehumidifier ... you normally dont need one but it helps give an even dryness thats ready for curing ... and aslo means no rot !

manicure the buds before you hang them as doing it when there drying disrupts THC and resin ... keep the leaves drying in a cardboard box in the room to the side

set up your dehumidifier on theground and hang the buds /trees ... at about 6ft
so 75% up in the room .. dont pack the buds closely together ... but on lines right arcroos the room (like clothes lines) make sure there is NO LIGHT IN THE ROOM ! (light destroys THC )

hang them for 3/4 days at humidity around 20/30 % so dont stay in there to long as you'll get a dry mouth lol.... dribbling will not be an issue
or set the dehumid on a timer for 30minutes on 30minutes off and keep emptying the water bag / container

after 3/4 days check how dry the bus are ....
bend a bud branch near the stem and if it snaps not not in half its dry (most people dry in about a week or so. longer might be needed ...but if you have got the dehumy it will be sooner !)

depending on the quantity you have got curing is either gona be glass jars or bin liners ... i harvest 500grams + so liners are for me ... it can get a bit annoying when you have 50/100glass jars taking up space ...

i like Black heavy duty bin liners they keep the light out ..
some people say dont cure in anything plastic as some sweats thats why glass is prefered ... but you also get condensation in a greenhouse .!

anyway it gives the bud a nicer smell ... probally coz its black and keeps the light out ... i dont know lol ..its just nicer .

you can put half a kilo into 1 bin liner easy flap over top .... and put in a cupboard .. take it out everyday and move the buds around ...i just put my hand in and (like playing with sand or flour) just move it around slowly

it will be dry and ready to smoke after 2 weeks of curing .... if you want to have a top class product tightly wrap buds after 2 weeks in balls the size of your fist in kitchen wrap /sandwhich wrap/cling film ....
and store in a wooden cupboard for between 1 and 6 months then it will be properly cured and smell like the proper stuff you buy ...

happy growing

oh yer the leaves

dry untill they break into dust .... then build your self a hash screen out of fine satin material (you can buy at a fabric shop) it looks i bit like mosquitto netting but a little finer you can see though it and feel you breath through it ....
normally white

stretch it over a frame of wood (quick DIY like a picture frame) with the deeper side of the wood strip on the inside staple the satin in place over 1 side of the frame then tape the edges to the frame so its neat.

get a piece of plastic blackout material/pond liner .. the size of ..well bigger than the frame ..(the frame can be 2ft x 1ft with a extra piece of wood screwed to the satin side of the frame at the longest end

so when you look at it the fame has a satin screen one side with a block of strip wood raising it up off the table/floor ... so when you put the leaf material in the frame it cant go anywhere coz of the sides it HAS to go throught the frame

1)get a hand full of dry leaf material (its better to dry it with the dehumidifier or for 3months untill really brittle)
place it at the top of the screen ... and rub the leaf material over it swoosh it around ... bounce it with your finger tip and kepp it moving ... do this with the entire box worth for 10 minutes each handfull
you can reuse the leaf material up to 5 times

2) under the screen on the black plastic will be a collection of resin glands
scrape it together with a razor blade (like people would coke)it soo build up

get a piece of plastic from a document keeper (document slip, plastic slip ) or use a the plastic that come with a pack of cigarettes.... put in about 10 grams of this resin powder and wrap of into a square tightly ... use plastic sello tap to farsen .... then wrap the parsle in paper and farsen with paper tape .........

3) you have a package thats plastic on the inside and paper on the outside

put the package under a tap running so the parsel in completely drenched

and put in the oven at 140 degrees C for 10 minutes (the wet paper stops the plastic burning and the plastic stops the resin burning ... but it does activate it )

4) remove from oven and use a rolling pin on the parsle over and over again untill it reallly damp flat

personally because i have a workshop i use a vice it works much better: ) ... really dam tight ... crush it !!!! tight use all your force

then under the tap and back in the oven for 5 minutes then do the same ... remove it and crush it

5) put it in the fridge for 30 minutes remove and remove the packaging using a razor blade ... dont worry it will eventually come out

6) the product ... tastey pure hash , better than the stuff you can get your hands on ! ... obviously the better the grow strain the better the hash ... so hydroponic hash from ie white widow blows your mind

Carbon cans are meant to be used with the air "sucking".

The Odorsoc can be used both ways effectively.
