dry and curling down leavs. heat or under water? pics inside!!

hey!
i was away from home and my better half took care of the plant.
it is in soil, good air in it..
p.h. of about 7.1
strain: arjan's ultra haze #3
3 weeks old
from seed
under flouro the first week and now 2 weeks under 150 hps
temps are about 88 f or 28 c
when i came back it looke like this:

mined that i have tooped it when i left:
before the topping:

toping tool:

after the topping:

the topped clone:

before the topping in the grow zone:

and a bagseed i was growing next to it:

also began to curl...
so , i went 20 pages back in the forum and no help...
any thoughts??

thanks
sory for the misstypes .. i blame the bong... : )

First things first...your PH is a little high. Should be around 6.6-6.8. Second your temps are in the upper 80's, not good. Good ole pot from past growing experiences like the range of the canopy level to be about 75-79. Personally I do not like to go above 80.

The first picture you showed looks like some deficiency or lockout, to me it resembles Phosphorus Def.

Your bag seed baby looks burnt as shit. I have had plants do this to me when the soil is too "HOT" meaning too high nutrient levels.

Whats your feeding regiment. What nutes do you use. Whats your humidity. Soil type. Water quality etc. All the info you can give is critical to identifying your problem.

Another thing to think about is your PH. Too high of PH can cause leaf twisting, sorry I forgot to mention that.

His soil does not look wet enough, nor do the leaves appear to be suffering from over watering. This does not mean there is an underlying problem with the roots just looks like something else is wrong. Over ferting or an overload of certain elements may be locking out other micro nutrient/ macro nutrients. It can be a variety of problems he has... Mid East fill this out to the best of your knowledge.

SOIL:
What STRAIN are you growing?
What was the establishing technique? (seed or clone?)
What is the age of your plants?
What PHASE (seedling, vegetative or flower) are the plants in?
What Technique are you using? (SOG, SCROG etc)
What size pots are you using? (Include how many subjects to pot)
What substrate/medium are you using? (percentage of perlite, vermiculite...etc?)
What Nutrient's are you using? How much of each? How Often? *Knowing the brand is very helpful*
What is the TDS/EC/PPM of your nutrients used?
What is the pH of the "RUN-OFF"?
What method of pH test was administered? Using Strips? pH pen?
How often are you watering?
When was your last feeding and how often are you feeding?
What size bulb are you using?
What is the distance to the canopy?
What is your RH Factor? (Relative Humidity)
What is the canopy temperature?
What is the Day/Night Temp? (Include fluctuation range)
What is the current Air Flow? (cfm etc.)
Is the fan blowing directly at plants?
Is the grow substrate constantly wet or moist?
Is your water HARD or SOFT?
Has plant been recently pruned, cloned or pinched?
Have any pest chemicals been used? If so what and when?
Are plant's infected with pest's?

i'm assuming you're not feeding it, those are the signs of starvation, especially in that small of a pot

ph may be a little high, but that wouldn't cause that extreme of a change

temps are not exactly desirable, but shouldn't be causing that much damage

doesn't look like overwatering because it's not all droopy

Looks like whoever took care of those plants burned the hell outta them; so I will have to agree with Kush; they are burned to hell.....

For the one that is in the shot glass; get it out of there.... there is no holes in that glass; they need holes in there cups/pots for drainage, cannabis does not like soggy roots....
How much did your friend feed them, or how much did you feed them if you fed them at all?

how are you testing your ph? If your pH value is correct .1 is not going to cause a huge problem like that, those leaves are burned to crisp.

WHat soil mixture do you have those in?

See, here is the thing; your pH may be right or may be wrong; your soil mixture may be soiless, if so then your pH is correct.

If your mixture is not soiless then your ph is way off.
In order to know if it is or not; you need to find out what is in the mixture weather it's peat or other soiless mixtures; so we can't say for sure if your pH is off or not untill we know more information about your mixture.

You used 20 ml of nutrients to your plants? With how much water!?

Judging by the pics, I would guess overwatering and the roots need air.
Add at least 30% volume perlite to your soil mix. And don't water unless the top 3-6 inches of your medium is bond dry depending on pot size.

more info about the soil...

more info about the soil...

hey guys! thanks all for the input!!!
i am more than thankfulk!!!!!!
with your help and experience i might pulll out of it.... (crosing fingers)

about the fertilizer: one DROP not a TBS. so it is qwite a little...
i diluted the drop in 500 m.l. of water and about 200 m.l. of it went to the plant. so it is about 0.4 of a drop if i am correct....
it sais:
"best organic soil....."
universal potting soil.
profesional (wtf???) (if it is for pro's why there is no precentage of the ingredients???)
ingredients:
peat , coco, perlite, some fertilizer..
no preccise percentage.
looks like good amount of perlite though...
you guys thing my p.H. is too low??
thanks a lot!!!!
first not bagseed grow... qwite excited.... will be a bummer to fail...
good morning!

Nope; your pH is just fine m8; it's supossed to be like that..... but that mixture looks like it's too strong for the plants if you did not feed them that much.... if it has time released ferts and your friend watered them a lot it could have released a bolse dose of nutrietns which caused the burn you are seeing.

Time released ferts are activated when water hits them and depending on how cold the temps are it can release them even quicker which means the dose is even stronger......

my advice is if you did not feed them that much you will need to remove them from that soil mixture into a different mixture that is not as strong.

If you did burn them,..... liquid doses like that are very hard to diagnosis because normally you do NOT want to listen to the directions on the back of the bottle/box because 9 times out of 10 you will burn your plants; did you use the amount it listed on the back of the box?

hey snitch!

hey snitch!

well i think she did not over watered. but it might be.
any how i was flushing the soil now but if you say that the fertilizer is water activated.. then i am just releasing more in to the soil?
no, i did not use the dosega on the fert. i used only one drop istead of the recomended 10 . i am aware of the fear to burn the little girl.
after the flush the ph is about 6 to 6.5 (it is hard to tell as i use strips).
so ... should we just sit back and give the plant a day or two?
i am mostly concerned about the black zones on the leaves....
as you can see on the leaf on hour 12.... a dark necrozis zone...
any thoughts my friends?

thankfull!

the soil seems to be too hot for the plants then; I said if your soil has timed released ferts that is what it is doing to your plants..... what ferts does it say is added? Does it say what kinds? Your run off is also too high if it's coming out like that, I thought you said the pH was 5.5?

Did you do something to get a different value?
You may have to flush your mixture really good with about 2 gallons of water and then transplant into a mixture that is not as strong......

hey stitch!

hey stitch!

nope, it dose not say... just says : "ferts..."
any how i flushed the soil with plain water (about 2 galons) and the reading went up to 6.2 more or less...
the run off is very clear now and i thing the soil is way less hot now. do you agree?
any how i also choped the sick dead leafes. i thought they might be a good grow zone for fungus so i removed them.

so basicly now the soil is not as hot as it was, the ph is about 6 and the plant is "clean" without necrosis.
so- should i still transplant or the flush was enough??
thanks a lot!

Hi mid-east-stone,

you are a lucky guy with all these good info coming from all these great growers.

i have a small recommendation: when the time to transplant comes, take advantage of the mess your friend made out of the plant.

Try to transplant as deep as possible, covering the stem where dead leafs used to be. Healthy roots will come out of there and you will see an amazing boost in growth.

Just make sure you have good drainage in your new medium to avoid stem rot, until roots come out of there.

Good luck

hey ganja!!

hey ganja!!

tell me, do you think that the root ball that i will have will climb up?
i thought all the idia in transplanting was in the even rood deplotation... am i wrong??
thanks for the input my friend!!
m.

not climp up.

New roots will form from the buried stem and they will spread. It is a technique used in tomato plants.

i do it with all my plants. When i transplant them i try to bury them as deep as possible. Some times i might even remove the first set of three leaves and maybe some of the lower branches. I let them heal for a day and then transplant.

In less than a week new, strong roots come out from that part of the stem.

i find this a nice way to keep hight low.

Give it a try with one plant and see what happens.
