I'm about to up the pics, once I remove the exif data from them.

anyway:

HYDROPONICS/Aero Ponics/Coco/Soiless/

How long has this problem been going on?
1 week max

Are you growing in a PVC grow tent? (example: Hydrohut or any other non brand tents)
No

What system are you running? (DWC? Ebb flow? Aero? Water Farm? Flood Tables? and so on...)
You can see in the pics, a standard flowering pot, with rockwool cubes and clay pebbles...

What STRAIN are you growing?
white widow / Red deisel

What was the establishing technique? (Were the seed or clone?)
seeds; the two you see here are WW

What is the age of your plants?
3 weeks maybe

How long have they been in there mixture they are in now?(coco, soiless etc..)
3 weeks ish

How tall are the plants?
about a foot

What PHASE are the plants in? (seedling, vegetative or flower) are the plants in?
veg

What Technique are you using?
hydroponics? i will be cloning them and putting them into ebb and flow.

What substrate/medium are you using?(Hydroton, RockWool etc.)
rockwool cubes / hydroton (50% / 50% ish)

What is the Water temperature?
never above room temp, so never above 70F

What color are your roots? White? Brown? Are your roots slimy?
white; no

What Nutrient's are you using?(If growing soiless)
two part veg mixture from AN; standard stuff, ive done hydro before so its not the nutes or my nute mixing procedure

How often are you feeding? (If using soiless)
lately? 1 a day; but sometimes i just do a few cups of PHed water to flush them.

How often are you giving nutrients? (If using soiless)
if I'm not flushing them, once a day. until i see water leak out the bottom

What is the TDS/EC/PPM you are using?
PPM: ~600

What is the pH of the "Tank"?
5.5 - 5.8 reading today was a 5.8 after flushing with 5.5 PHd water

Are you sure your calibration is correct on your equiptment?
yes

When was your last watering?
just now

What is your water temps?
above

When was your last feeding change? (ie. grow-bloom-micro-additional)
today started to flush

How often do you clean your system: example: Flush out water replace with
clean water and nutrients?
i just mix up a new batch of nute water when it runs out or PPM shows too high

What size bulb are you using?
400W HPS (yeah i know horrid for veg)

What is the distance to the canopy?
4 ft

What is your RH Factor(Relative Humidity)?
30%

What is the canopy temperature?
72 lately

What is the Day/Night Temp? (Include flucutaion range)
lights are on 24/7 to help with keeping temp up.

What is the current Air Flow? (cfm etc.)
sealed room

Is the fan blowing directly at plants?
no bouncing off wall

Is your water HARD or SOFT?
probably harder; PPM = 150 of tap water, with a PH between 7-8

What water are you using? Reverse Osmosis (RO)? Tap? Bottled? Well water? Distilled? Mineral Water?
tap

Are you using water from a water softener?
no

Has plant been recently pruned, cloned off of or pinched
no

Have any pest chemicals been used? If so, What and When?
no

Are plant's infected with pest's
no

pics up soon!

NOTES:

What seems to be happening is that the rockwool cubes and hydroton are storing too much water and not letting enough oxygen in, hence the droopyness... I think once i get the other stuff straight, I can go back to watering daily / bi daily, but still the problem that came up from that was if i watered daily, id notice the water leaking out would have 1200+ PPM. this is why i began to flush

I have 4 more plants under a CFL, that I may just dump the pots i have setup and put 100% hydroton in.

But that begs the question, if its properly draining, how can I be OVERWATERING them if all I have them in are rockwool cubes and hydroton?

Also, because I have seen that 1200PPM drip off water, do you recommend me to run some drip like lines to the plants, and then just have a pump in a nute bucket run that for like 20 minutes, once a day?

suggestions welcome on ideal watering methods for this setup, as I haven't really done this before, hence the problems probably!

pictures in next post!

Not sure about the overwatering but I think your PH is too high I believe in hydro you want it around 6.8

hydro you want it to go between 5.2-6.0 roughly...

you want it to slowly fluctuate between those so that the plant can absorb all the nutrients (5.4-5.6 is the sweet spot i believe)

pics incoming!

any help guys?

what are some solutions here?

I am definitely overwatering, so should i take care of that first? or should I be worried about the yellowing veins / tips first?

I just looked it up:
What pH level or range should I aim for?
Marijuana thrives in neutral to slightly acidic mediums. Soil and soilless mixes should aim for pH of 6. Hydro growers should go slightly lower which helps prevent pythium and other root rots-- 5.5 to 5.7 is ideal.

So yes I was wrong;)

Why are you so certain its overwatering?

True enough but it is also the first sign of other problems too. How do they look now after three days of cutting back the watering? If they are not starting to improve or are worsening then it could be either not an over watering problem at all or there is a secondary problem. Have you checked the sticky in this section that covers different plant problems?

Those plants really don't look that bad. Some of the bottom leaves have yellowed tips which might suggest a mild nitrogen deficiency (that no longer exists). The leaves are particularly droopy, so I don't suspect that you've over watered. When they seriously curl under like claws is when you know that you've drowned your girls.

You say that your pH is 5.8 after flushing with 5.5, though... That's peculiar. Usually the run off is higher than the flushing water because you're removing excess salts. You've got the reverse. Perhaps you're feeding too much calcium/magnesium?

There's nothing wrong with vegging under a 400W HPS, but if I read your notes correctly you've got the lamp hung 4' above the canopy top? That's way too much distance! Lower it so the plants can get some much needed light. I'm surprised that the growth isn't really spindly. Perhaps its the indica genetics shining through.

Anyway, I wouldn't make any radical changes. I would raise that RH, though. The ideal is about 65% at 72degF air temperature.

Hey man I owe you a big apology I totally miss-read your original note. When I read the part about your water and it's PH I thought it was your tank's Ph...really I am sorry I can be such a ditz at times.

I personally like my room humidity in the thirties. All the time. I consider 60% way too high although that is just my two cents.

I suspect that those plants aren't draining off as well as they really could be.
I would cut some drainage slots around the bottom side perimiter of those planters. Right now you have very few "round" holes in the bottom of those planters, and they very well could be being partially or completely blocked by those round clay balls, sort of like a hydro "check valve" being sucked or pressed into the holes by the weight of the waterings.

Careful use of a box cutter knife should work the trick :)

excellent idea 10k

EDIT:

lower leaves are now turning yellow with brownish spots...

kind of a magnease def. but not.

I am thinking I flushed for too long?

so yellowing in the bottom leaves is nitrogen deficiency, what are steps that can be taken to fix that, thats happening with mine

I'm curious on how you over water in hydro,I do DWC and they live in 18 gallons of it .

thanks pray

really RH needs to be that high?

I'd say that's about idea for VEG. If we were discussing flowering, then I'd bump it down to about 45%.

any suggestions on getting that up without buying a humidifier?

You can drop temperature, vent air in from a higher RH environment, hang wet rags, place a bowl of water on top of hot hoods... or ADD PLANTS! I've always prefered the last method. :)
