Drooping after transplant

I just got the test for pH, also includes tests for N P and K so that's good too. Right now I have two fans in there. One is attached to an exhaust pipe and the other is on top of the plants blowing 24/7. Will update this post with the pH and other tests asap.

Seems the pH's are between 7-8 for all the plants. That's kind of high, right? Should be more like 6 I believe. I'll work on getting that lower this week.

if the soil feels moist usualy theres enough water currently, dosnt meen it wont dry up by the next day, when you transplant, give a good watering, atleast enough that it comes out the bottem holes when its done.

AlexanderS, that is what I was stressing to DeadlyFear. But I think we have a slightly high PH from the over ample amount of Seabird Guano added to DF's organic soil mix.

Well, DF, Verite said the Seabird Guano was high in alkaline and that would give you the PH readings that are high. You should be 6.5 to 7.0 for soil. Some say no higher than 6.8 for soil, but mine does fine at 6.8-7.0. You can lower it with white distilled vinegar. Try a teaspoon per gallon. Or PH Down. I used vinegar when.............that was a long time ago.........like years. Ever since I started using dolomite lime, garden gypsum, and wood ashes my PH maintains a neutral read down to 6.5 sometimes.

Alright, break time!~ :smoke: ................. :monkeyeat

I used a soil test. Could it also be from my tap water I'm using? I need to get a tester I can stick right in the soil.

All the plants seem to be doing better. The one that had the dying leaves is experiencing growth everywhere except the top.

And I believe the other two are females, woot! :yummy:

help plants are drooping

help plants are drooping

Ok so I just took my plants out of the garden due to the roots becoming rootbound despite tilling my garden 3ft deep and placed them im 5gal of sunshie#2 while keeping the original soil around the rootball to aid in reducing the shock of the plant but now they are starting to droop. SOMEBODY please help!!

Yeah, if you don't water them right after transplanting then the dry soil sucks the water right out of the plant like if you put a wet sponge on a dry sponge. The definitely caused your plant to experience some degree of shock. I like to use kelp extract when my plants are stressed. There are other things you can get that are less natural but are specifically designed to perk your plants back up. Either way they will probably be ok in a week.

Also I don't recommend planting past the first node at all. This can lead to stem rot that will girdle the plant (destroy the xylem in a ring at the base of your plant). This will stop the water and therefore the nutrients from making it from the roots to the leaves.

Thanks for the info Coastal I watered them after the delicate transplant and buried them at the same depth they were at in the garden and just got a look at them and they seem to be perking back up.

Stupid Question

Stupid Question

Ok so I have grown in 4 states from california to Michigan and always outside in a garden setting and never had to tansplant but im wondering with the weather we are having if I should bring them in and put them under light until the sunshine feels like making a appearance again?

No they will be fine outside. If you are concerned specifically about how the weather will affect there recovery well it is actually a good thing. There will less transpiration through the leaves and since your damaged root system may not have been able to supply the plant with all the water it needed this will actually give your plant a break and a chance to recover without as much stress. Now is a good time to hit them with some sulfur to deter mold and mildew spores since you don't want to do that under full sun or hot conditions. Prevention is the best cure. Careful though as sulfur is not compatible with oil based insecticides or fungicides such as neem oil. However, I have not had in bad interactions with Sulfur and Azidirachtin concentrates, a compound derived from neem oil. Are you in California? Any way I have seen monster plants with huge colas survive several rain events just because the grower knew what he was doing with preventative pest management. You could also look into some biological inoculates that prevent mold through competition. There is now several inoculates on the market based on different bacteria of fungus. The idea is that these rather benign microorganisms colonize the plant and take up the habitat that powdery mildew or botrytis would otherwise want to occupy. Botector is one of the newer inoculates I have heard of that is based on a yeast strain.

So far 10 of my 13 plants have stayed looking good but 3 still seem a bit withered and rubbery looking. Should I give a few more days before giving up on them?

UPDATE

UPDATE

Ok so it's update time and i will add pics soon but ive noticed several plants are suffering from a calcium deficiency so I made up a water based nutrient shake which containes fish emulsions a little bit of calcium along with a iron suppliment. I tested the ph is at 5.8 so im really hoping this helps.
