i found out i live in a state that will ticket for 'drugged' driving under the terrible influence of MJ...it lists 5ng/ml as the .08 of drugged driviing...how much is that? am i 5ng/ml when i truly feel the buzz after torching one up, or am i always above that level if i smoke my usual 1-2 joints per day????

5ng/ml is pretty low. The standard for passing most employment UA's is usually 50ng/ml...
& DOT standards are 10-20ng/ml...I think?

I have 5ng/ml in my big toe...:dance013:

Wow, sounds like if you have it in your system at all and they test you, your getting a drugged driving ticket.

That sucks, what a terrible thing.

i'm curious how the testing is done
urinalysis doesn't seem like proof for 'under the influence', the time line is way too long
blood or saliva test?

I'm interested in how this works as well. Being a total hypocrite I'm not a fan of any type of impairment while driving (having logged many hours of 'flight time' earlier of course). Having used MJ some time (weeks-months) in the past should not equal impaired driving later as we all know. I also believe that people shouldn't be driving for lots of other reasons as well (tiredness, medicated, old guys with hats, parents with more than 3 children in the vehicle and dumbasses). Rant.

i had to check this out, i had no idea how this was dealt with
from my limited reading, MJ use is determined by a field sobriety test
walk a straight line, count backwards from 100, etc.
there just isn't a good roadside test for MJ, not yet anyways
my guess, and this is just a guess, that in the case of serious accident, a blood sample may be drawn

Around my parts they swab your mouth and test for resin, so if you just smoked one the test will be back positive, but if it was a while back and you munched out - you should be ok

oral test? that makes sense, a blood draw didn't sound too likely
i wonder how accurate the oral tests are, detects use in the last 2 hours, 3 hours?
i don't do the driving under the influence of anything, but it would suck to get a positive for something i did the night before

This sounds scary to me. Tho cheap dip tests cutoff at 50ng/ml and it takes about a month of no smoking to pass 1.

dip test is urinalysis? i doubt urinalysis is used, at least road side, too many issues
guys maybe, but giving a woman a road side urinalysis?
i know you will have your license suspended for refusing breath test, but haven't heard of that happening for MJ oral test
but this could be a state by state situation

In some states CA being one, if you are involved in an injury accident they will take blood and you can be convicted of dui even if you smoked 2 weeks ago. Not good.

i was afraid of that on the blood test, i have seen mention of dui and mj after accidents
not sure of blood test sensitivity, i think it drops much quicker than urine
but tests change, and get more sensitive

my last drug test i pissed up a 440 ng sample for them...
2-4g of smoke a day.

im assuming it would take a stoner a few weeks or so to get levels down to 5ng.

very good thread, made me realize i knew nothing about driving and mj testing
so some quick reading up on the saliva tests
in short, they seem to suck for accuracy, lots of false positives
i find it hard to believe these would be admissible in a court of law
i'm guessing they're mostly used in work place, if you test positive they follow up with a more accurate(and expensive) test
