double tailed beans ?

Recently had my first double tailed bean. I was unsure as to the best way to handle it, and subsequently after planting in soil it died, never broke the surface.

I'm very curious as to others experinces with double tails, i.e. how you seperated them, there success rate, subsequent grow outs of same seedlings, how they compared, etc. etc. and would appreciate any and all posts with any info.

hey MD;)

i have never had a Cannabis twin, but it's a fairly common anomoly in the plant world.
I wouldn't worry about the genetics.

a good way to seperate, i'd imagine, is, if they were put to soak in water till crack, leave them in the water until the shell falls off and there's two seedlings in the water. (dunno bout you but i soak in water ans h2o2 which helps that shell bust off while in the soak) .

If left to grow together there's a good chance they'll [eventually] grow into 1 plant (hypothetically, based on my experience with other plants, again, never had a Cannabis seedling do this to me)

wish i could offer more help

What he said.

It happened to me with my Sensi Star. I planted 10 beans....got 11 plants...go figure. The best part of that....as if it wasn't good enough....both twins were fems!

ive never had a twin yet but if i did i think id just leave them together, ive been having success with letting plants roots live together lately in dcw, i had 4 all entwined together and going great so i figured if it would work ok to leave them together.

would seperating twins probably kill them at such a young age anyway?
if i were to try and seperate id wait till they were older and stronger root mass..

Thanx y'all for stopping by and posting. Hoping more peeps post, am looking to maybe get enough info to decide whether or not they are worth bothering with if it happens again, so if you have had them PLEASE post any info, just did they make it past germ and were they worthy plants please?

I wonder if these "twins" would be genetically identical...doobie doo did you sensi star twins come out the same?

Oh for sure they are worth nursing to veg. You just need a little extra care. Most of the time they dont make it in soil but they will do great if you nurse them. A lot of the time they lack the vigor to root in soil but if you leave the root tip in a fold of wet paper towels and put under flo's the small cotyl's will spread and it will start slowly doing its thing like the first pic, the second pic shows the twins mixed in with their other sprouted brothers and sisters, I think they are in the second row on the right but as you can see they recovered very nicely and are currently undistinguishable from the others in flower.

From the beginning one plant was smaller than the other. That has evened up a lot, but the plants are identical other than size. Just a sec and I'll snap a shot.

Here we go. I had to search the stems to figure out which one (two) it was, LOL

As you can see, you can't tell where one ends and the other begins. That is significant because it (they) are a phenotype unto themselves. All other plants from that pack look different.
