Double end lights (DE) whats the best brand?

Hey all wanted to pick your brains on double ended lights, i was looking at gavita pro 600/750 because the guy at my local grow store told me that with having only 8 foot high rooms that the 1000 watts will cook my plants even though i have a 24,000 btu mini split ac in my flower room.

i was planning on going with 4 of them in my room that is 12 feet long by 7 feet deep.

now is that the best brand to go with? cause i want to get a de set up that has the best penetration power. So i figured with not being able to find much on these type of lights i would ask here. now i know gavita is a little on the price side but are they the best? cause i know that nanolux has a DE now and some other brand but i dont want to listen to the sales guy at the hydro store so he can sell me the most expenisive light there is. any input would be great thanks.

For short ceilings I recommend the Gavita Flex 750's, they kick ass.

The 1k DE's make it tough with that short of ceilings, unless you are doing a SOG style grow.

He's saying you'll have trouble with the 1k DE (regardless of brand) in your 8' space.

I'll be going with nanolux units as soon as I have a space better suited for them. They are badass. And well.. Gavitas are damn near impossible to get right now unless you know of a shop with current stock. They are backlogged like 6 months fulfilling orders the last I heard.

If ya got 8' ceilings and the 600/750 units I'd suggest you stick with those. You'll have to run a 1k dimmed down anyways in that space from what I hear. Most users are reporting 42"-48" above the canopy with the 1k models. I've got a buddy running 1k Gavitas in a 8' space (tucked up into the open rafters). His EL2 controller is keeping them dimmed in accordance to temp.. they are staying around 750-825 setting or thereabouts. Even in environmentally controller space that still lay down a ton of radiant heat.

A 1k unit at pinned at 8'.. with the tops of your plants 4' under the bottom of the unit doesnt give you much room for large plants.. certainly not large enough to take full advantage of the intensity of the DEs in my opinion.

Although I certainly don't have tons of experience with them as Billyboat does. Just what I've currently witness as friends try to make the switch. You really want the 10-12' ceilings to run 1k DEs (or rather their max setting 1150-1200w). People aren't just making this stuff up. I saw a DE hanging in a tent at a hydro store the other day. WTF! That certainly isn't a good idea unless you've got some amazing variety that just eats up the light and radiant heat.
